Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track between California and Belmont

Northbound Blue Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the California and Belmont stations from 10 p.m. Sunday, April 18 until 4 a.m. Monday, April 19, due to sewer cleaning in the subway.
 
Northbound customers at the Logan Square station must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Blue Line Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track Next Week

Northbound Blue Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the California and Belmont station from 11 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, April 19 until Thursday morning, April 22, as sewer cleaning continues in the subway.
 
Northbound customers at the Logan Square station must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform. 
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Thursday – Belmont and Addison
As sewer cleaning work continues, a single track will be in effect between the Belmont and Addison stations from 11 p.m. Thursday, April 22 until 4 a.m. Friday,
April 23.
 
Northbound customers at the Belmont and Addison stations must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Red Line Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track This Weekend and Next Week

Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, April 16 until 4 a.m. the following morning, northbound Red Line trains will undergo a single track between the 87th and 79th Street stations as crews make station improvements.
 
Northbound customers at the 79th Street station must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Monday – Southbound at 79th Street
On Monday, April 16 from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound Red Line trains will undergo a single track between the 79th and 87th Street stations as crews continue to station improvement work.
 
Northbound customers at the 79th Street station must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Tuesday – Northbound at 47th Street
As work continues to remove ceiling panels, northbound trains will undergo a single track between Garfield and 47th Street stations from 11 p.m. Tuesday, April 20 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Northbound customers at the 47th Street station must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Wednesday – Southbound at 47th Street
From 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 21 until 4 a.m. the following morning, a late night single track will be in effect between the 47th Street and Garfield stations.
 
Southbound customers at the 47th Street station must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform. 
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track between the 63rd and 55th Stations Next Week

From 11 p.m. Thursday, April 22 until 4 a.m. Friday, April 23, a late night single track will be in effect between the 63rd Street and Garfield stations on the Red Line.
 
Northbound customers at the Garfield station must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Service for Upcoming Events

#19 United Center Express Serves Upcoming Playoff Games

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses before and the following playoff games for the Blackhawks and the Bulls:
 
  • Friday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. – Nashville Predators versus Blackhawks
  • Sunday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. – Nashville Predators versus Blackhawks
  • Thursday, April 22 at 6 p.m. – Cleveland Cavaliers versus Bulls
  • Saturday, April 24 at 2 p.m. – Nashville Predators versus Blackhawks*
  • Sunday, April 25 at 2:30 p.m. – Cleveland Cavaliers versus Bulls
 
*only if needed
 
Buses will leave every 12-15 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of each event until the event begins.  When the event ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
 
#19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton.  From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
 
After each game, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3.  On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

#72 Bus Stop at North/Clybourn Temporarily Relocated Due to Construction

Currently in effect until Wednesday, June 30, the eastbound mid-block stop in front of the station that is served by #72 North Avenue buses temporarily has been relocated to a near side stop at the intersection of North/Clybourn. The relocation is due to construction at the North/Clybourn Red Line station.
 
In addition, a temporary far side stop at the North Avenue/Halsted intersection has been added. This stop will be served by #72 buses.
 

#62 Archer Buses Undergo Reroute Due to Construction

Currently in effect, northbound #62 Archer buses are undergoing a reroute until Friday, April 30, due to the closure of Kinzie for curb and foundation removal.
 
Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn/Kinzie then operate via Dearborn, Hubbard to State and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated on North Pulaski

The far side bus stop at 3200 N. Pulaski served by #53 Pulaski buses temporarily has been relocated to a near side stop until Friday, April 30.
 

Bridge Closure Temporarily Reroutes Two CTA Bus Routes

The Ewing Street Bridge over the Calumet River at 3331 East 92nd Street is closed to all traffic for bridge repairs until Friday, May 21. As a result #26 South Shore Drive and #30 South Chicago buses are undergoing a temporary reroute.
 
Southbound #26 and #30 buses will travel over the regular route to 91st Street/Mackinaw then will operate via Mackinaw, Harbor, South Chicago, 95th Street to Ewing and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Ewing/95th Street then will operate via 95th Street, South Chicago, Harbor, Mackinaw to 91st Street and then resume the regular route.
 

Change to Bus Stop Served by #82 Kimball/Homan Buses

Effective immediately, the northbound far side bus stop at Homan/Madison has been relocated to a far side stop.
 

Helicopter Lift Detours Buses in Hyde Park

On Thursday, April 22 from 8 a.m. until approximately noon, Hyde Park Boulevard between 5100 south and 5300 south will be closed due to a helicopter lift.
 
Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express and #X28 Stony Island Express buses will travel over the regular route to Hyde Park/53rd Street then will operate via 53rd Street, Lake Park to 51st Street and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound buses will travel the reverse route. 
 

Railroad Crossing Repairs Reroute Buses

Currently in effect, 400 East 130th Street is closed to all vehicle traffic for railroad crossing repairs until Saturday, April 24. The #34 South Michigan and #108 Halsted buses that serve Carver High School will be rerouted.
 
Southbound #34 buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/115th Street then will operate via 115th Street to Southbound I-94 Bishop Ford to westbound 130th, exit and travel to Eberhart to travel south over the regular route.
 
Northbound buses will travel the reverse route. 
 
In addition a bus shuttle will be implemented during the reroute to maintain service on south Michigan Avenue between 115th and #127th Streets.
 
Southbound shuttle buses will operate south on Michigan from 111th Street, 126th Street, State, 127th Street to Michigan before turning to begin northbound service.
 
Northbound shuttle buses will leave from Michigan north of 127th Street and operate via Michigan, 115th Street, State, 111th Street to Michigan and then will travel south of Michigan over the shuttle route.
 
Southbound #108 Halsted buses serving Carver High School will travel over the regular route to Halsted/Vermont then will operate via Vermont, Lowe Terminal, 127th,Street, Michigan, 115th,Street, Bishop Ford Highway, to westbound 130th Street to Eberhart and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound buses will operate over the regular route.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
 

Street Closure Temporarily Reroutes Buses

On Saturday, April 17 from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. and again during the same hours on Sunday, April 18, 63rd Street will be closed between Prairie and Kenwood for filming.
 
Eastbound #63 63rd buses will travel over the regular route to 63rd Street/Indiana then will operate via Indiana, 61stStreet, Dorchester then return to 63rd Street and resume the regular route.
 
Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to 63rd Street/Dorchester then will operate via Dorchester, 61st Street, Indiana, 60th Street, Michigan to 63rd Street and then resume the regular route.
 

Bus Stop Reinstated Following Completion of Construction Work

Effective immediately, the northbound mid-block bus stop at LaSalle between Lake and Wacker has been reinstated due to the completion of a construction project.
 
The stop is served by #134 Stockton/LaSalle Express, #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express, #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express and #156 LaSalle buses.
 

Jackson Bridge Closure Reroutes Buses

Effective immediately, the Jackson Street Bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic until Saturday, April 17 at 7 a.m.
 
Eastbound #126 buses will travel over the regular route to Jackson/Canal then will operate via, Canal, Monroe, Wacker to Jackson and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #151 buses will travel over the regular route to Adams/Canal then will operate via Adams, Clinton, Jackson and wait at Jackson before beginning the return trip north.
 
Northbound #151 Sheridan buses will leave from Jackson between Clinton and Canal then will travel via Canal, Monroe, Wacker to Jackson and then resume the regular route.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Temporary Removal of #66 Chicago Bus Stop

Currently in effect, the eastbound near side stop at Chicago/Clark served by #66 Chicago buses temporarily has been removed from service until Friday, April 30, due to construction.
 

Street Reconstruction Work Temporarily Detours #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland Buses

Currently in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, Lombard Avenue between Lake and South Boulevard is closed to all traffic due to street reconstruction work.
 
Southbound #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland buses are operating over the regular route along Lake to Lombard before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #86 buses are departing from Lake/Lombard and traveling east on Lake to Humphrey then operating via Humphrey to South Boulevard and resuming the regular route west on South Boulevard past Lombard.
 

#53A South Pulaski Bus Stop at Pulaski/83rd Street Temporarily Relocated

Currently in effect until Friday, May 7, the northbound near side stop at Pulaski/83rd Street served by #53A South Pulaski buses has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Street Resurfacing Project Detours #17 Westchester Buses

Currently in effect until 6 a.m. Monday, May 10, Westchester Boulevard between Roosevelt and Canterbury is closed to all traffic due to a street resurfacing project.
 
Westbound #17 Westchester buses are traveling over the regular route along Westchester to Roosevelt then operating via Roosevelt, Mannheim, Canterbury to Balmoral before turning to begin eastbound service. Eastbound #17 buses are departing from Canterbury/Balmoral and traveling north on Balmoral and then over the regular route.
 

Sewer Construction Work Temporarily Detours #78 Montrose Buses

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, May 14, Montrose Avenue between Paulina and Greenview is closed to all traffic due to a sewer construction project.
 
Eastbound #78 Montrose buses are traveling over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then operating via Damen, Wilson and then resuming the regular route east on Wilson past Clark. Westbound #78 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #93 California/Dodge Bus Stop

Currently in effect until Thursday, May 27, the southbound curb lane of California Avenue at Granville is closed to all traffic due to construction. As a result of this lane closure, the southbound near side stop at California/Granville served by #93 California/Dodge buses temporarily has been relocated approximately 175 feet north.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop on LaSalle between Lake and Wacker

Due to construction work the northbound mid-block stop on LaSalle between Lake and (upper) Wacker has been removed from service until Friday, June 18. This stop is served by #134 Stockton/LaSalle Express, #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express, #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express and #156 LaSalle buses.
 

#81 Lawrence Bus Stops near the Kennedy Expressway Temporarily Eliminated

Currently in effect until Tuesday, August 31, the eastbound and westbound near side bus stops on Lawrence at LeClaire served by #81 Lawrence buses temporarily have been removed from service due rehabilitation work on the Lawrence Avenue viaduct.
 

#111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses Undergo Reroute Due to Bridge Repair Work

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday, October 31, the 111th Street Bridge over Interstate 57 (I-57) is closed to all traffic due to bridge and deck replacement work.
 
Southbound #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are operating over the regular route along 111th Street to Marshfield then traveling via Marshfield, 112th Place, Hamlet to 111th Street and then resuming the regular route east on 111th Street.
 
Northbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 111th Street to Throop then operating via Throop, 107th Street, Vincennes and then resuming the regular route south on Vincennes past 111th Street.
 

Temporary Removal of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Jackson/Sangamon

Currently in effect until Friday, September 30, 2011, the eastbound far side stop at Jackson/Sangamon served by #126 Jackson buses temporarily will be removed from service due to nearby construction. Customers may board and exit eastbound #126 buses from either Jackson/Morgan or Jackson/Peoria.
 

Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses

Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets until further notice.
 
Southbound #29 State buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route.
 
Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
 

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, several streets in the downtown area have been closed or reconfigured until Monday, April 2, 2012. As a result of these closures and reconfigurations, the following changes in service along three CTA bus routes currently are in effect:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Van Buren Street between Canal and Clinton has been reconfigured to accommodate westbound traffic only. As a result, the southbound near side bus stop at Van Buren/Canal served by #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses has been relocated to a far side stop. 
 
#121 Union Wacker Express
Lower Wacker Drive between Harrison and Randolph is closed to all traffic due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project. During this time #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are being detoured to adjacent streets.
 
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #121 buses are operating over the regular route along Lower Wacker to Randolph then are taking the exit ramp to Upper Randolph and traveling via Randolph, Clinton to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
#124 Navy Pier
Van Buren Street between Canal and Clinton has been reconfigured to accommodate westbound traffic only.
 
Westbound #124 Navy Pier buses are traveling over the regular route along Clinton past Van Buren to Harrison then are operating via Harrison to Canal and resuming the regular route north on Canal. Eastbound #124 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
