Late Night Line Single Track in Effect on Red Line Friday Through Next Thursday Due to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between 79th and 63rd Streets from 8 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Saturday and northbound in the same location from 8 p.m. Saturday until 3 p.m. Sunday.
Single track service will be in effect southbound between 55th and 33rd Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday night, April 19 through Thursday night, April 22.
Customers should allow additional travel time while the work is being performed.
By-Pass Tracks in ServiceAs part of the work, CTA trains will begin using a second set of by-pass tracks this weekend between 67th and 71st Streets.
Trains are already using by-pass tracks between 87th and 84th Streets.
Customers will continue to board trains at their normal station locations.
83rd Street Closes for Metra Construction Beginning Friday83rd Street will be closed at the Metra Electric tracks at Exchange from 9 a.m. Friday through Thursday, April 22 for reconstruction of the railroad grade crossing. Buses on the #N5 South Shore Night Bus, #71 71st/South Shore and #26 South Shore Express routes will operate via Commercial, Exchange, 79th, back to South Shore Drive then resume the regular route.
State Street and Wabash Bridges Closed for a Photography Project Saturday and SundayThe State Street bridge over the Chicago River will be closed from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m. and the Wabash bridge will be closed from 6 a.m. until 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday for a photo shoot. #29 State, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will operate on adjacent streets during the closures.
Helicopter Lift Closes Streets Sunday Morning A helicopter lift to the top of the Palmolive Building at 919 North Michigan will close Michigan between Oak and East Lake Shore Drive; and Walton between Rush and Mies van der Rohe from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. Sunday. Buses on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #146 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan routes will operate on adjacent streets for the duration of the lift.
Halsted Closes Beginning MondayHalsted will be closed northbound only between 67th and 63rd Streets for construction at Kennedy-King College from Monday, April 19 through Saturday, May 8. Northbound #8 Halsted buses will operate via 67th, Lowe, 63rd, Peoria, Peoria Parkway, back to Halsted then resume the regular route. Southbound service will not be affected.
Damen Closes for Sewer Construction Beginning MondayDamen will be closed southbound at 64th Street from 8 a.m. Monday until 3 p.m. Thursday, April 29 for sewer construction. #48 South Damen buses will operate via 63rd, Ashland, Marquette, back to Damen then resume the regular route. Northbound service will not be affected.
