Blue Line – Slow Zone Work

Late Night Single Track along the O’Hare Branch of the Blue Line on Tuesday

A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains between the Montrose and Jefferson Park stations from 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Blue Line Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track between Cumberland and Harlem

From 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound Blue Line trains will undergo a single track between the Cumberland and Harlem stations.
 
Southbound Blue Line customers at the Harlem station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Thursday Night Single Track for Blue Line Trains between Jefferson Park and Harlem

A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains between the Jefferson Park and Harlem stations from 8 p.m. Thursday, April 16 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Jefferson Park station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Slow Zone Work

Daytime Reroute of Red Line Trains at Sheridan

A daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11, while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During this time, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 
Next Week
From 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, April 14 through Friday,April 17, a daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During these times, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 

Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track in Effect for Blue Line Trains on the Forest Park Branch

Due to signal work, a late night single track will be in effect for westbound Blue Line trains operating between the Racine and Western stations from 9 p.m. Monday, April 13 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Westbound Blue Line customers at the Racine and Illinois Medical District stations must board and exit trains from the eastbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track for Red Line Trains between Grand and Roosevelt

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains operating between the Grand and Roosevelt stations from 10 p.m. Sunday, April 12 until 4 a.m. the following morning, due to sewer cleaning in the subway tunnel.
 
Southbound Red Line customers at the Lake, Monroe, Jackson, Harrison and Roosevelt stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Next Week
Sewer cleaning in the subway tunnel continues next week from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, April 13 through Friday morning, April 17, resulting in a single track for southbound Red Line trains between the Grand and Roosevelt stations.
 
During these times, southbound Red Line customers at the Lake, Monroe, Jackson, Harrison and Roosevelt stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Additional Service for Special Events

CTA Provides Service to Wrigley Field for the 2009 Baseball Season

Fans heading to Wrigley Field this baseball season will find CTA a convenient and affordable travel option. The Chicago Cubs home opener is Monday, April 13 at 1:20 p.m. versus the Colorado Rockies.
 
The Red Line provides direct service to Wrigley Field via the accessible station at Addison, which is just a short walk away from the ballpark. Fans can transfer to Red Line trains from all other rail lines and from most east-west bus routes.
 
For weekday night games, all southbound Purple Line Express trains will stop at Sheridan; northbound trains will follow the normal route and bypass the Sheridan station. For all evening games, Yellow Line trains will operate until midnight from Howard.
 
Several CTA bus routes also provide convenient service directly to Wrigley Field: #8 Halsted; #22 Clark; and the #152 Addison. The #154 Wrigley Field Express buses operate for all night and weekend games for fans who wish to combine driving and public transit to travel to the games.

#10 Museum of Science & Industry Bus Extends Hours for Spring Break Service

To accommodate longer spring break hours at the Museum of Science & Industry, buses operating on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry route will have extended service hours through Sunday, April 19.
 

#19 United Center Express Serves Upcoming Events

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses on the following dates and times:
 
  • Saturday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. – Charlotte Bobcats versus Bulls
  • Sunday, April 12 at 1 p.m. – Detroit Red Wings versus Blackhawks
  • Monday April 13 at 7 p.m. – Harlem Globetrotters
  • Wednesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. – Toronto Raptors versus Bulls
 
Buses will leave every 10 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of the event until the starting time of the event. When the event ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour. #19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
 
After the event, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Change in Routing for #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express Buses

Effective at the start of service on Monday, April 13, changes will be made to the south end of the current #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express route.
 
Weekdays – Start of Service to 9 a.m.
During the week, Monday through Friday, from the start of service until 9 a.m., southbound #146 buses now will operate south of McFetridge Drive to 18th Drive then will travel via 18th Drive to Museum Campus Drive and then resume the regular routing.
 
Post-Morning Rush on Weekdays and on Weekends
For the remainder of weekday service hours and on weekends, southbound #146 buses will travel over the regular route along Roosevelt to Columbus then will operate via Columbus, McFetridge Drive to Museum Campus Drive and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #146 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route during all hours of operation.
 
New Service Stop along McFetridge Drive
Also effective at the start of service on Monday, April 13, when traveling east on McFetridge Drive, southbound #146 buses will make a service stop inside the service drive on the north end of Soldier Field.
 

Nightly Reroute for Northbound #22 Clark Buses through Wednesday

Northbound #22 Clark buses will be temporarily rerouted beginning at 7 p.m. each night until 7 a.m. the following morning through Wednesday, April 15, due to emergency water main repair work.
 
Northbound #22 Clark buses will operate over the regular route along Dearborn to Chicago then will travel via Chicago, State to Walton and then resume the regular route. Southbound #22 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Changes to CTA Bus Stops Effective Friday

Effective at the start of service on Friday, April 10, changes will be made to bus stops along the #21 Cermak, #22 Clark, #52 Kedzie/California and #65 Grand routes.
 
#21 Cermak
The eastbound near side stop at Clark/Ridge will be moved to the far side.
 
#22 Clark
  • The southbound near side stop at Clark/Ridge will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • The southbound near side stop at Clark/Thorndale will be moved to a far side stop.
  • The northbound near side stop on Clark at the eastern branch of Wrightwood will be moved farther south to be a near side stop on Clark at the western branch of Wrightwood (in front of the building located at 2555 N. Clark).
  • The northbound near side stop at Clark/Roslyn will be relocated to a far side stop at Clark/Arlington.
 
#52 Kedzie/California
  • The northbound near side stop at California/Walton will be moved to mid-intersection.
  • The northbound near side stop at California/Augusta will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
#65 Grand
The eastbound near side stop at Grand/Pulaski will be moved to a far side stop.
 

Two Bus Routes Detoured for Helicopter Lift at Michigan and Randolph

From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, Randolph Street will be closed between Michigan and Columbus due to a helicopter lift. During this time, #4 Cottage Grove and #60 Blue Island buses will be temporarily detoured.
 
Northbound #4 and eastbound #60 buses will operate over the regular route along Michigan Avenue to Wacker then will travel via Wacker, Columbus to South Water for the end of route and start of southbound and westbound service, respectively.
 
Southbound #4 and westbound #60 buses will operate from South Water to Michigan and then resume their regular routes. 
 

Six CTA Routes Detoured on Monday Due to Washington Street Bridge Closure

The Washington Street Bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic on Monday, April 13 from noon until 2:30 p.m.
 
Eastbound #20 Madison, #X20 Washington/Madison Express and #56 Milwaukee buses will operate over their regular routes along Washington to Clinton then will travel via Clinton, Monroe, Wacker to Washington and then resume their regular routes. Westbound #20, #X20 and #56 buses will travel over their regular routes.
 
Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th and #157 Streeterville buses will travel over their regular routes along Canal past Washington to Lake then will operate via Lake, Wacker to Washington and then resume their regular routes. Westbound #60 and #157 buses will travel along their regular routes.
 
Eastbound #124 Navy Pier buses will operate over the regular route along Canal past Washington to Lake then will travel via Lake to Wacker and then resume the regular route. Westbound #124 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Temporary Closure of Jackson Street Bridge Monday Morning

The Jackson Street Bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River will be closed on Monday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to noon.
 
Southbound #1 Indiana/Hyde Park and #X28 Stony Island Express and northbound #151 Sheridan buses will travel over their regular routes along Canal to Van Buren then will operate via Van Buren, Jefferson, Monroe, Wacker to Jackson and then resume their regular routes. Northbound #1 and #X28 and southbound #151 buses are not affected and will operate over their regular routes.
 
Eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson and northbound #156 LaSalle buses will operate over their regular routes to the intersection of Jackson/Canal then will operate via Canal, Monroe, Wacker to Jackson and then resume their regular routes. Westbound #7 and #126 and southbound #156 buses are not affected and will travel over their regular routes.
 

Harrison Street Bridge Lifts Detour #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick Buses

The Harrison Street Bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 and then again during the same hours on Wednesday, April 15.
 
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will travel over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then will operate via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and then resume the regular route. Southbound #11 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Changes to #8 Halsted Bus Stops

The following changes will be made to bus stops along the #8 Halsted route effective Tuesday, April 14, at the start of service:
 
Halsted/47th Street
The northbound and southbound stops located at Halsted/47th Street will be relocated from near side to far side stops.
 
Halsted/45th Street
The southbound near side stop at Halsted/45th will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
Halsted/44th Street
The northbound and southbound near side stops at the T-intersection of Halsted/44th Street will be eliminated.
 
Halsted/43rd Place
The southbound near side stop at Halsted/43rd Place will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
Halsted/42nd Street
The northbound near side stop at Halsted/42nd Street will be eliminated.
 
Halsted/Root
The southbound near side stop at Halsted/Root will be eliminated.
 
Halsted/31st Street
The southbound near side stop at Halsted/31st Street will be relocated to a far side stop.
 

Changes to Bus Stops along the #44 Wallace/Racine Route

Effective at the start of service on Tuesday, April 14, the following changes will be made to bus stops along the #44 Wallace/Racine route:
 
Halsted/47th Street
The southbound near side stop located on Halsted at 47th Street will be relocated to a westbound far side stop along 47th Street at Halsted.
 
Halsted/45th Street
The southbound near side stop at Halsted/45th will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
Halsted/44th Street
The northbound and southbound near side stops at the T-intersection of Halsted/44th Street will be eliminated.
 
Halsted/43rd Place
The southbound near side stop at Halsted/43rd Place will be relocated to a far side stop.
 
Halsted/42nd Street
The northbound near side stop at Halsted/42nd Street will be eliminated.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Sewer Repair Work at 67th Street/Woodlawn Reroutes #N5 and #67 Buses

Due to emergency sewer repair work, 67th Street at Woodlawn will be closed to all traffic until Monday, April 20.
 
Eastbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses operating to South Shore will operate over the regular route along 67th Street to Cottage Grove then will travel via Cottage Grove, Marquette, Stony Island to 67th Street and then resume the regular route. Westbound #67 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses that operate to 67th Street/Stony Island only will travel over the regular route along 67th Street to Cottage Grove then will operate via Cottage Grove, Marquette, Cornell, 63rd Street to Stony Island to Marquette for end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #67 buses will operate via Marquette, Cottage Grove to 67th Street and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #N5 South Shore Night buses will travel over the regular route along 67th Street to Stony Island then will operate via Stony Island, Marquette, Cottage Grove to 67th and then resume the regular route. Southbound #N5 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Ewing Avenue Bridge Closure Temporarily Detours #26 and #30 Buses Next Week

The Ewing Avenue Bridge over the Calumet River will be closed to all traffic until 3 p.m. Friday, May 8, due to bridge repair work.
 
Northbound #26 South Shore Express and #30 South Chicago buses will operate over their regular routes along Ewing to 95th Street then will travel via 95th Street, South Chicago, South Harbor to Mackinaw and then resume their regular routes. Southbound #26 and #30 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Water Main Construction Reroutes Buses until May 12

Due to water main construction, 16th Street is closed between California and Washtenaw from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Tuesday, May 12. 
 
Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will travel over the regular route to Ogden/California then will operate via Ogden, Washtenaw to 16th and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
 
Westbound #38 Ogden/Taylor buses will travel over the regular route to Western/Ogden then will operate via Western, 16th to Washtenaw and then resume the regular route. Eastbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #78 Montrose Bus Stop

Due to sewer construction work along Montrose Avenue, the eastbound near side bus stop at Montrose/Damen will be temporarily relocated approximately 150 feet west until Wednesday, May 13.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Terminal at Ford City Mall

Until 3 p.m. Monday, June 8, the CTA bus terminal located at Ford City Mall will be temporarily relocated approximately 800 feet southeast due to construction. This terminal is served by #54B South Cicero and #79 79th buses.
 

Buses Rerouted Due to Construction on Milwaukee Avenue

Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will be rerouted until Monday, November 30, due to construction on Milwaukee Avenue between Gale Street and Montrose Avenue.
 
Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will travel over their regular routes to Lawrence/Milwaukee to a far side stop then will continue eastbound on Lawrence to Lipps, north on Lipps to enter the Jefferson Park bus terminal. Westbound #81W and southbound #91 buses are not affected and will travel along their regular routes.
 

Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive

The bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive served by #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses has been relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.
 
#10 customers should board on Chestnut between Mies van der Rohe and Michigan or on Michigan southbound at Pearson.
 

Temporary Removal of Bus Stops at Cottage Grove/57th Street

The northbound far side and southbound near side bus stops near the intersection of Cottage Grove and 57th Street will be temporarily eliminated until further notice due to sewer repair work. These bus stops are served by northbound and southbound #2 Hyde Park Express, #4 Cottage Grove and #X4 Cottage Grove Express buses.
 
During this time, customers are advised to board #2, #4 and #X4 buses either one block north at Cottage Grove and 56th Street, or one block south at Cottage Grove and 58th Street.
 

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Street Closure

Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School. Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will operate the reverse route.
