Directions to the Start of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in Grant Park

From the North Michigan Avenue area:

Take a southbound Red Line train (going toward 95th/Dan Ryan (accessible)) from Grand/State or Chicago/State (accessible) subway station to Monroe. Walk three blocks east on Monroe to Columbus. Red Line trains operate at all times. Trains operate 15 minutes until 6:00 a.m., then every 6 to 10 minutes.

or

Take a southbound #3 King Drive or #151 Sheridan bus on Michigan Avenue to stops between Madison and Monroe or between Van Buren and Congress. Walk one block east to Columbus. Buses run every 15 minutes or better.

From the North Side:

Take a southbound Red Line train (going toward 95th/Dan Ryan (accessible)) to Monroe. Walk three blocks east on Monroe to Columbus. Red Line trains operate at all times. Trains run every 15 minutes until approximately 5:30 a.m., then every 6 to 10 minutes.

From the Northwest Side:

Take a southbound Blue Line train (going toward Forest Park (accessible)) to Jackson (accessible). Walk four blocks east on Jackson to Columbus and two blocks north on Columbus to Monroe. Blue Line trains operate at all times. Trains run every 15 minutes until approximately 4:30 a.m., then every 10 to 12 minutes.

or

Take a southbound Brown Line train (going to the Loop*) to Adams/Wabash. Walk one block north on Wabash to Monroe and two blocks east on Monroe to Columbus.

* The first Brown Line train to the Loop departs Kimball at 5:30 a.m. and arrives at Adams/Wabash at 6:04 a.m. Trains then operate every 10 to 12 minutes.

Earlier Brown Line service operates from Kimball to Belmont starting at 5:00 a.m. If traveling from 5:00 a.m. until 5:30 a.m., take a southbound Brown Line train to Belmont. Transfer to a southbound Red Line train (going toward 95th/Dan Ryan (accessible)) to Monroe. Walk three blocks east on Monroe to Columbus. Brown Line trains operate every 15 minutes during this period. Red Line trains operate at all times and run every 15 minutes during this period.

From the West Side:

Take a northbound Blue Line train (going toward O’Hare (accessible)) to Jackson (accessible). Walk four blocks east on Jackson to Columbus and two blocks north on Columbus to Monroe. Blue Line trains operate at all times. Trains run every 15 minutes until 4:30 a.m. then every 10 to 12 minutes.

or

Take an eastbound Pink Line train (going toward the Loop) to Adams/Wabash. Walk one block north on Wabash to Monroe and two blocks east on Monroe to Columbus. Pink Line trains start at 4:00 a.m. and operate every 15 minutes.

or

Take a southbound Green Line train (going toward 63rd/Ashland (accessible)) to Adams/Wabash. Walk one block north on Wabash to Monroe and two blocks east on Monroe to Columbus.

The first Green Line train departs Harlem/Lake (accessible) at 6:00 a.m. and arrives at Adams/Wabash at 6:25 a.m. Trains then operate every 15 minutes.

From the South Side:

Take a northbound Red Line train (going toward Howard (accessible)) to Monroe. Walk three blocks east on Monroe to Columbus. Red Line trains operate at all times. Trains run every 15 minutes until 5:00 a.m. then every 10 to 13 minutes.

or

Take a northbound Green Line train (toward Harlem/Lake (accessible)) to Adams/Wabash. Walk one block north on Wabash to Monroe and two blocks east on Monroe to Columbus. The first train departs 63rd/Ashland (accessible) at 5:50 a.m. and arrives at Adams/Wabash at 6:20 a.m. The first train departs East 63rd/Cottage Grove (accessible) at 6:11 a.m. and arrives at Adams/Wabash at 6:35 a.m. Trains then operate every 30 minutes on the 63rd branches and every 15 minutes north of Garfield (accessible) station.

From the Southwest Side:

Take a northbound Orange Line train (toward the Loop) to Library-State/Van Buren (accessible). Walk two blocks east on Van Buren to Michigan. Continue east of Michigan and use the pedestrian overpass
into Grant Park. The first Orange Line train departs Midway (accessible) at 5:35 a.m. and arrives at Library-State/Van Buren (accessible) at 5:59 a.m. Trains then operate every 12-20 minutes.

From McCormick Place Hyatt:

Take a northbound #3 King Drive bus from in front of the entrance to the McCormick Place South building (directly south of the McCormick Place Hyatt) to stops on Michigan at Congress or Monroe. Walk one block east to Columbus. The first bus departs McCormick Place at 6:00 a.m. and arrives at Congress at 6:11 a.m. Buses then run approximately every 15 minutes.

Directions to the Health & Fitness Expo at McCormick Place

Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11, 2008

From downtown (south of Chicago Avenue)

Take a southbound #3 King Drive bus on Michigan to King Drive/23rd (across the street from McCormick Place). Buses run every 7 to 15 minutes.

From the West and Northwest Sides

Take any Blue Line train going toward downtown to Jackson (accessible). Walk three blocks east on Jackson to Michigan. Transfer to a southbound #3 King Drive bus to King Drive/23rd (across the street from McCormick Place). Buses run every 7 to 15 minutes.

or

Take any Brown, Green, or Pink Line train going toward the Loop to Adams/Wabash. Walk one block south on Wabash to Jackson and one block east on Jackson to Michigan. Transfer to a southbound #3 King Drive bus to King Drive/23rd (across the street from McCormick Place). Buses run every 7 to 15 minutes.

From the Southwest Side

Take a northbound Orange Line train (going toward the Loop) to Roosevelt (accessible). Walk 1½ blocks east on the south side of Roosevelt to the bus stop on the east of Michigan. Transfer to an eastbound #3 King Drive bus to King Drive/23rd (across the street from McCormick Place). Buses run every 7 to 15 minutes.

From the South and North Sides

Take a Red Line train to Cermak/Chinatown. Transfer to an
eastbound #21 Cermak bus to King Drive/23rd (across the street from) McCormick Place. Buses run every 10 to 15 minutes.

From Ogilvie Transportation Center (Metra Union Pacific trains)

Take any eastbound bus on Washington to Michigan. Transfer to a southbound #3 King Drive bus to King Drive/23rd (across
the street from McCormick Place). Buses run every 7-15 minutes.

From Union Station (Amtrak and Metra Milwaukee, BNSF, North Central & SW Service trains)

Take an eastbound #1 Indiana/Hyde Park*, #7 Harrison*, #(accessible)28 Stony Island Express* or #126 Jackson bus on Jackson to Michigan. Transfer to a southbound #3 King Drive bus to King Drive/23rd (across the street from McCormick Place). Buses run every 7-15 minutes.

* Weekdays only.

From Millennium Station (Metra Electric & South Shore trains)

Take a southbound #3 King Drive bus on Michigan to King Drive/23rd (across the street from McCormick Place. Buses run every 7-15 minutes.

Note: Some Metra Electric and South Shore trains serve McCormick Place station. Consult timetables at www.metrarail.com or call 312-836-7000.

From LaSalle Street Station (Metra Rock Island trains)

Walk five blocks east on Van Buren to Michigan. Take a southbound #3 King Drive bus to King Drive/23rd (across the street from McCormick Place). Buses run every 7-15 minutes.
