For fans heading to Comiskey Park for the cross-town baseball classic over the weekend of June 9-11, between the White Sox and Cubs there is only one choice everyone can agree on. Whether they root for the good guys in black or the blue- clad teammates of Slamming Sammy, they can all get to and from the ball park on the CTA's Red Line.
The Sox-35th Red Line station serving Comiskey Park is just across 35th and Wentworth from the left field stands. The Red Line station at Addison is scarcely more than a long fly ball over the right field wall and Sheffield Avenue from the friendly confines of Wrigley Field.
To thank our current users and promote service to both Comiskey Park and Wrigley Field on the Red Line, the CTA will distribute specially designed posters at the Sox-35th station about 1 ? hours before the start of each game in the current series. Games will be played Friday at 7:05 p.m., Saturday at 12:15 p.m. and Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
CTA Chairman Valerie B. Jarrett said, "This is a unique way to show CTA customers our appreciation for using our rapid transit service. Chicago baseball fans all come out winners by taking the Red Line to the ballpark."
Chicago artist Steve Musgrave was commissioned to create the cross-town collectible posters. Steve also designed several murals at the CTA's Red Line Addison station, which he adopted as part of the CTA's Adopt-A-Station program. CTA's in-house printers provided reproduction of Musgrave's work.
"Our Red Line posters are artistic souvenirs of the service we offer to both Comiskey Park and Wrigley Field," said CTA President Frank Kruesi.
Red Line trains operate between Howard and 95th/ Dan Ryan, and make the trip to the Sox-35th station from downtown in 10 to 12 minutes. Free connections can be made to Red Line trains from the Purple Line at Howard, from the Brown Line at Belmont, and from the Blue Line at Washington or Jackson.
Green Line riders can reach Comiskey Park from the nearby 35th- Bronzeville station, and Orange Line riders can transfer at the 35th Archer station to #35 35th buses for trips east to the ball park. Both the Green and the Orange Line stations at 35th are fully accessible, as are #35 35th buses.
