Fans heading to Wrigley Field for the Cubs-Sox cross-town classic over the weekend of July 7 ? 9 will have at least one thing in common. Whether they go to cheer the winningest team in baseball or the North Side favorites, they can all get to and from the ball park on the CTA's Red Line.
The fully accessible Red Line station at Addison is just over the right field wall from the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, while the Sox-35th station is only steps away from the left field stands of Comiskey Park. Both ball parks are a 15-minute ride or less from Red Line stations in the State Street subway downtown.
To show CTA's appreciation to current customers and promote Red Line service to both Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park, the CTA on Friday will distribute specially designed posters at the Addison station starting about 1? hours before each of the three games in the series. The games are scheduled to begin at 2:20 p.m. Friday, July 7; at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, July 8, and at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, July 9.
Chicago artist Steve Musgrave, who was commissioned to create the cross-town collectible posters, will be at the Addison station Friday to greet Red Line customers. Besides the current posters, Musgrave also designed several murals that are on permanent display at the Addison station, which he ?adopted? as part of the CTA's Adopt-A-Station program. The posters being offered to Red Line customers were reproduced by CTA's in-house printers.
Red Line trains operate between Howard and 95th. Free connections can be made to the Red Line from the Purple Line at Howard, which Yellow Line trains from Dempster/Skokie are also serving throughout the Taste of Chicago. (Note: The Yellow Line terminal is just east of the Edens Expressway at 5001 W. Dempster, and has a 776-car parking lot which baseball fans can use before boarding trains to complete their trips.) Connections to Red Line trains can be made from all 'L' lines serving downtown or from Brown Line trains at Belmont.
Service to Wrigley Field is also provided by fully accessible #22 Clark buses that operate north through the Loop on Dearborn, and by #152 Addison buses that run east and west on Addison from Sheridan/Diversey to Cumberland.
