CTA Work on 95th Terminal to Require Two-Week Closure of a Dan Ryan Expressway Lane Near 95th Street

November 5, 2018

Lane closed from Wed. Nov. 7 until Tues. Nov. 20

Construction work associated with the 95th Street Terminal Improvement Project requires the closure of one lane of the Dan Ryan Expressway near 95th Street for a period of two weeks from Wednesday, November 7, until Tuesday, November 20.

Adjacent to CTA’s Red Line tracks, this lane will be closed – weather permitting – from 87th Street to just south of 95th Street. The closure of this lane is required as CTA works to expand and greatly improve the 95th/Dan Ryan Red Line rail station and bus terminal.

The $280 million 95th Street Terminal Improvement project is the largest station project in CTA history. It will create a signature station for the South Side that will better serve the existing high volume of riders by providing safer passenger access to buses and the train station.

Construction on the 95th Street Terminal began in late 2014. The south terminal was completed in April 2018, while the north terminal is expected to be ready in late 2018. CTA continues to work closely with partner agencies - the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) - as well as the Illinois State Police (ISP), while this major project is under construction.
