CTA Will Still Be Your Best Option During the Democratic National Convention (DNC)

August 15, 2024

Despite street closures and snarled traffic during the DNC, CTA’s trains and buses will still be the most convenient and affordable ways to get to various festivals, sporting events; please check the CTA website for updated reroutes due to the convention

[Updated 08/17/24]

CTA will be the most reliable mode of transportation as you travel throughout the city while the Democratic National Convention is occurring in Chicago.

Starting this weekend, riders are strongly encouraged to allow extra travel time and to check on the latest service impacts prior to any trip due to unplanned events associated with the DNC (e.g., motocades, street blockages, etc.). Riders can either subscribe to CTA Updates—to receive the latest information via text or email regarding one’s preferred bus and rail routes, and/or stations—or can check CTA’s webpage (transitchicago.com/dnc/) for the latest information regarding service during the DNC.

Riders can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move.
