CTA’s trains and buses are the best and most affordable ways to get to Chicagoland St. Patrick’s Day events and Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament at United Center; Construction work to temporarily impact the Red Line
It is the day of all green, and CTA is your most affordable and reliable travel option around Chicagoland while avoiding the traffic jams at all the exciting St. Patrick’s Day parades and festivities. Customers can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade and River Dyeing
Chicago River, from Orleans St. to Columbus; Columbus, northbound from Balbo to Monroe.
Sat 3/14: River Dyeing – 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.; Parade – 12 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Rail: All rail lines to downtown will provide access to the parade and river dyeing area.

Archer Avenue St. Patrick's Day Parade
Archer Avenue, Oak Park to Merrimac – Sat. 3/14 at 12 p.m.
Northwest Side Irish Parade
Northwest Highway, Nagle Avenue to Harlem – Sun. 3/15 at 12 p.m.
South Side Irish Parade
Western Avenue, 103rd Street to 115th Street – Sun. 3/15 at 12 p.m.
United Center Events
- Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament –
- Thu. 3/12 - Game 7 at 11 a.m., Game 8 is 25 minutes after Game 7
*Please note there will be no service on the #19 route after Game 7 and 8.
- Thu. 3/12 – Game 9 at 5:30 p.m., Game is 25 minutes after Game 10
- Fri. 3/13 – Game 11 at 11 a.m., Game 12 is 25 minutes after Game 11

Service:
- Rail: Take the Green Line and exit at the new Damen station or exit at the Ashland station from either a Green or Pink line train.
- Get to and from these events via the #20 Madison and #50 Damen bus routes. Customers can also take the #19 United Center Express route post event.
Soldier Field
- D.C. United vs. Chicago Fire FC – Sat. 3/14 at 7:30 p.m.
Service:
- Rail: The Red, Orange and Green lines provide the closest access to Soldier Field. Exit at the Roosevelt station.
- Bus: Service on the #146 Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express route.
Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Red Line Service
- On the Red Line Howard-bound trains will not stop at the Addison station on the following dates:
- For service to this station, take a Howard-bound train to Sheridan or Wilson and transfer to a 95th-bound train.
- For service from this station, take a 95th-bound train to Belmont and transfer to a Howard-bound train.
- At the Sheridan station, board/exit trains in both directions on the Howard-bound
platform.
- These service changes are due to track maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Red Line.
