CTA Unveils 2025 Pride Train and Ventra Card Designs Celebrating Pride

June 2, 2025

To celebrate Pride Month, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) today unveiled the new 2025 designs for the Pride Train and Ventra card adorned with the colors of a rainbow in celebration of the dynamism and continuing evolution of the LGBTQ community locally and nationally. This year marks the eighth year the Pride Train has made its voyage in Chicago on the Red Line.

The Pride Train parked at a train yard.

“The CTA is excited to continue the tradition of celebrating the LGBTQ community with the unveiling of the 2025 Pride Train and Pride signature Ventra Card designs,” said CTA Acting President Nora Leerhsen. “CTA stands ready to take you to all the fun events that Pride month has to offer.”

This year’s train features a new exterior design that uses bold, vertical waving stripes of color that will cover the entirety of the eight-car train.  The ends of each railcar in this year’s Pride Train lead with black and brown stripes representing LGBTQ people of color, followed by the trans color trio, which represents marginalized groups in the larger community, then the classic Pride Flag colors at the center. Inside, each of the railcars will be filled with messages of warmth, welcoming affirmations, as well as feature new car cards that provide local historical facts and information.

This year’s Pride Ventra Card design transforms the original Ventra Card’s geometric pattern into bold Pride colors. Learn more at ventrachicago.com/purchase/.

The CTA became the first major U.S. transit agency to unveil a Pride Train when it introduced the concept to Chicago in 2017.
