CTA TO PROVIDE EXTRA SERVICE FOR THE VISIT OF MEXICAN PRESIDENT VICENTE FOX

The Chicago Transit Authority will be providing extra service on six bus routes and adding extra cars on two rail lines to accommodate people attending the official visit of Mexican President Vicente Fox on Sunday, July 15, 2001 at Harrison Park located at 1824 S. Wood Street.

BUS SERVICE Extra bus service will be provided on the following routes from Noon until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 between the points indicated:

#9 Ashland - Service every 4 minutes between Garfield Boulevard (55th Street and Courtland; service every 8 minutes over the rest of the route.

#18 16th -18th - Service every 7 to 10 minutes between Cicero and Halsted; service every 20 minutes east of Halsted. Service until 8:20 p.m. from the terminals at 16th/Cicero and 18th/Prairie.

As of Saturday, July 14, 2001, #18 16th -18th buses will be detoured off 18th Street due to street closures via Ashland,Cermak and Hoyne back to 18th in both directions.

#21 Cermak-Service every 6 minutes between Pulaski and the Red Line Cermak/Chinatown rail station; every 12 minutes over the rest of the route.

#X21 Cermak-Service every 10 minutes over the entire length of the route.

#50 Damen-Service every 5 to 8 minutes between the Orange Line 35th/Archer rail station and Damen/Fullerton; service every 15 minutes over the rest of the route. Connects with Blue Line-Medical Center station.

#60 Blue Island Service every 5 minutes over the entire length of the route.

RAIL SERVICEThe Orange Line and the Blue Line Forest Park (Congress) and O'Hare branches will operate 8-car trains instead of the usual 6-car trains to accommodate customers who attend the Presidential visit.For more information, customers may call the RTA Travel Information Center at 836-7000 from all area codes or log on to the CTA website at www.transitchicago.com.
