Bus Routes Near Event to Reroute
In anticipation of large crowds, the CTA will provide additional bus and rail service for Saturday’s “Moving America Forward Rally.” The rally will be held on Saturday, October 30 from approximately 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. near the University of Chicago. Extra service will begin at approximately 2 p.m. and continue for as long as crowds warrant.
Additional service will be added to the following bus routes serving the Hyde Park area: #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island, #55 Garfield, #59 59th/61st and #63 63rd.
In addition, longer trains will operate on the Blue, Brown, Green, Pink and Red lines. Rail customers may connect to buses serving Hyde Park in the Loop.
To speed travel and reduce lines, customers are encouraged to buy farecards in advance with sufficient value or to add enough value to their existing farecards (either the Chicago Card or magnetic strip Transit Card) for their return trips later in the day.
Bus customers who use CTA fare media pay $2.00 to ride. For rail customers or customers who pay cash on the bus, the fare is $2.25. Customers who use magnetic strip cards or other CTA fare media may transfer for a 25 cent fee. Transfers are not available for customers paying fares in cash.

Bus Reroutes
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time as the following reroutes will be in effect due to street closures in the area of the rally:
#15 Jeffery Local
From noon Saturday until noon Sunday, northbound #15 buses will travel over the regular route along Hyde Park to Woodlawn then will operate via Woodlawn. 47th Street, Drexel to Hyde Park and then resume the regular route. Southbound #15 buses will travel the reverse route.
From 11 a.m. Saturday until end of service on the route, the following reroutes will be in effect:
#59 59th/61st
Eastbound #59 buses will operate over the regular route along 61st Street to Cottage Grove then will travel via Cottage Grove, Midway Plaisance, Payne Drive to Midway Plaisance before beginning westbound service.
From Midway Plaisance/Payne Drive, westbound #59 buses will travel via Midway Plaisance, Cottage Grove to 61st Street and then resume the regular route.
#171 U of C/Hyde Park
Southbound #171 buses will travel only to Ellis/57th Street before turning to begin northbound service. From Ellis/57th Street, northbound #171 buses will travel via 57th Street, Cottage Grove to 55th Street and then resume the regular route past University Avenue.
#172 U of C/Kenwood
Southbound #172 buses will travel only to Ellis/57th Street before turning to begin northbound service. From Ellis/57th Street, northbound #172 buses will travel via 57th Street, Cottage Grove, 55th Street to Woodlawn and then resume the regular route.
