CTA’s trains and buses will get you to various sporting events and concerts; Reminder that Loop Elevated rail service will be suspended on the Brown, Green, Orange and Pink lines while construction work impacts two North Side Red Line stations over the weekend
CTA riders can rely on two free bus shuttles providing connections in the Loop this weekend, while Loop Elevated rail service is suspended. CTA crews will be replacing critical track switching equipment at the Tower 18 junction, which requires the suspension of Loop Elevated rail service along the Brown, Green, Orange and Pink lines in the downtown area. Service along these rail lines will operate normally outside of the Loop/downtown, while Red and Blue lines service will remain unaffected.
Customers are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time as rail service outside of the Loop may also be delayed. Train Tracker data may also be impacted as well.
Weekend work is necessary to ensure CTA can continue providing safe and reliable services across the four rail lines that use the Loop Elevated structure.
Beginning 4 a.m. Saturday, October 25, until 2 a.m., Monday, October 27, Brown, Green, Orange and Pink lines will undergo a temporary linecut, and all Loop elevated stations (Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Washington/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, H.W. Library, LaSalle/Van Buren, Quincy and Washington/Wells) will be closed.
See details about the loop elevated suspension and bus shuttle information on the Loop ‘L’ Service Suspension alert and the Pink Line reroute on our website.
CTA customers can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move.
