CTA Service for the Weekend of 2/19-2/21

February 19, 2016

Work on new Washington/Wabash station affects portion of Loop Elevated service early Sunday; extra service provided for upcoming events at United Center

CTA ‘L’ riders traveling downtown this Sunday are encouraged to allow extra travel time due to Brown, Orange, Green and Pink line trains being rerouted on the Loop Elevated for work associated with the new Washington/Wabash station. Also this weekend, additional service will be provided along the #19 United Center Express bus route for customers attending Chicago Bulls games on Friday and Sunday evening.

Sunday: Loop ‘L’ Trains Detoured Due to Closure of Tracks Along Lake and Wabash

On Sunday, February 21 beginning with the start of service (approx. 2 a.m.) until 2 p.m., the portions of Loop Elevated tracks along Lake Street and Wabash will be closed related to construction work on the new Washington/Wabash station. As a result of these track closures Brown, Orange, Green and Pink line trains will be rerouted as follows:

Orange and Brown Lines: Trains will operate as one route, between Kimball and Midway, via Wells and Van Buren.

Green Line: Trains will operate between Harlem and 63rd via Wells and Van Buren.

Pink Line: Trains will operate between 54th/Cermak and downtown via Wells and Van Buren. Trains will begin/end their trips at Roosevelt station.

Customers may transfer between the Loop elevated and Blue and Red line subways using the Harold Washington Library (Loop elevated) and Jackson (Blue and Red lines) stations.
