Sewer Work Detours CTA Buses Friday, October 5Due to street sewer work, State Street will be closed northbound and southbound from 59th to 63rd Streets, and 63rd Street will be closed eastbound and westbound from State to Wentworth beginning Friday, October 5, affecting #29 State, #59 59th/61st and #63 63rd bus routes for one week.
#29 State buses will be rerouted northbound via State/ 63rd/ Indiana/ 59th/ State, while southbound buses will be rerouted State/59th/Wells-Yale-Wentworth/Marquette/State.
#59 59th/61st buses will be rerouted eastbound via 59th/Michigan/61st, and westbound via 61st/Indiana/59th.
#63 63rd buses will operate eastbound via 63rd/ Wentworth/59th/Michigan/63rd, while westbound buses will travel 63rd/Indiana/59th/Wells-Yale-Wentworth/63rd.
Sewer Cleaning Affects Blue Line Subway October 5 - 7Sewer cleaning work in the Blue Line subway will require trains to use a single track while serving subway stations at Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5 until 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6. Work will resume late Saturday night on October 6 from 10:00 p.m. until Sunday, October 7 at 6:00 a.m.
LaSalle Bank's Chicago Marathon Affects Multiple Bus Routes, October 5 - 8 Columbus Drive will be closed over the weekend between Balbo and Roosevelt for the LaSalle Bank's Chicago Marathon, slated for Sunday, October 7, affecting multiple CTA bus routes. Street closures will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 5, detouring #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jeffery Express, #14 South Lake Shore Express, #127 NorthWestern/Madison and #146 Marine/Michigan Express buses. On Saturday, October 6, #6 Jeffery Express, #10 Museum of Science and Industry and #146 Marine/Michigan buses will be detoured. On Sunday, October 7 beginning at 7:00 a.m., thousands of marathon runners will make their way along a 26.2-mile course, temporarily detouring up to 32 bus routes that operate between and including South Lake Shore Drive to the east, Ashland to the west, Pershing/Oakwood to the south and Belmont to the north.
Columbus Day Parade Detours Five Bus Routes Monday, October 8.Due to the Columbus Day Parade, Columbus Drive will be closed to all vehicular traffic on Monday, October 8 from 9:00 a.m. until about 4:30 p.m. As a result, #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jeffery Express, #14 South Lake Shore Express, #127 NorthWestern/Madison and #146 Marine/Michigan Express buses will be detoured northbound via Columbus Drive/Roosevelt/Michigan/Balbo/Michigan, and southbound in the reverse pattern.
Bridge Reconstruction Detours #39 Bus Route Effective Monday, October 8Effective Monday, October 8 at 5:00 a.m., the 39th Street bridge over the Dan Ryan Expressway will be closed until April 2, 2002 (or completion) due to bridge construction. Therefore, #39 Pershing buses will be detoured eastbound via Pershing/Wentworth/Root/LaSalle/35th/Wentworth/Root/LaSalle/Pershing, and westbound via Pershing/LaSalle/35th/Wentworth/Pershing.
