CTA SERVICE AFFECTED BY EVENTS OVER THE WEEK

10/20/00Cable Installation Affects Weekend O'Hare Branch Blue Line Service Starting at midnight Friday, October 20, and continuing until about 2 a.m. Monday, October 23, Blue Line trains will operate on a revised schedule while fiber optic cables are installed along portions of the right-of-way. Trains will use a single track between the Addison and Jefferson Park stations. Customers will board trains in both directions from the existing island platform at each location.

Halloween Parade Detours Buses Downtown Saturday, October 21State and Dearborn Streets will be closed from Lake to Monroe, and Washington will be closed from Dearborn to Michigan from about 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday for the Halloween Parade, detouring 11 CTA bus lines. Buses from the north or south will use Michigan to bypass the parade area. #20 Madison buses will operate east on Washington to Clark and turn back west on Madison. #56 Milwaukee buses will operate east via Washington, LaSalle, Wacker and South Water, and west via South Water, Wacker and Clark to Madison.

'L' Will Provide Timely Service During Chicago Marathon Sunday 'L' trains will provide the timeliest transportation through the central part of the city during the LaSalle Bank's Chicago Marathon Sunday, October 22. For about six hours, starting at 7:30 a.m., thousands of marathon runners will wind their way along a 26.2-mile course from Grant Park north to Belmont, west to Ashland, and south to Pershing, temporarily detouring up to 32 bus lines within that area.

Franklin-Orleans Bridge Repairs Detour Two Rush Period Bus Lines Rush period #37 Sedgwick/Ogden and #125 Water Tower Express buses will cross the Chicago River northbound on LaSalle for about eight months starting Monday, October 23, while repairs are made on the Franklin-Orleans Bridge. #37 buses will operate via Franklin, Wacker, LaSalle, and Grand back to Orleans. #125 buses will stay on Wacker to LaSalle and go north to Ohio before resuming their regular routing. Buses will continue to use Wells for southbound service.

Kedzie Entrance Reopens at Kedzie-Homan Blue Line Station October 23The Kedzie entrance to the Forest Park Branch Blue Line station at Kedzie-Homan will reopen at 10 a.m. Monday, October 23, after reconstruction for accessibility. The Homan entrance to the same station will close for similar work. #52 Kedzie/California buses will return to their regular routing, while #82 Kimball/Homan buses will be detoured to serve the Kedzie entrance.
