CTA RPM Project Partners with 48th Ward, Edgewater Chamber of Commerce on “Bryn Mawrkets” this Summer to Promote Local Businesses

The RPM “Open for Business” Program will join the 48th Ward and Chamber in holding two sidewalk events, which will offer local food and entertainment in a family-friendly environment

The CTA Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) Phase One Project this summer will partner with 48th Ward Ald. Harry Osterman and the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce to hold two “Bryn Mawrkets” sidewalk fests, a series of summer events in the community. “Bryn Mawrkets” is a block-party-style festival that will feature a variety of local businesses, including restaurants and entertainment.

“We appreciate the CTA RPM Project’s support for our community and our many remarkable businesses,” said 48th Ward Ald. Harry Osterman. “CTA’s commitment to supporting events like ‘Bryn Mawrkets’ strengthens and enhances our neighborhood’s spirit.”

“Edgewater is a vibrant community with incredible shops, restaurants and entertainment, and we are so pleased to have the CTA join us in promoting shopping, eating, exploring and playing locally,” said Christina Pfitzinger, Executive Director of the Edgewater Chamber. “We’re excited to present these events to the community this summer.”

When: July 22, 2022 (A second event will be held August 19, 2022)

Hours: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: Northwest corner of Bryn Mawr and Winthrop

Entry fee: Free!

Features: DJ, children’s area, School of Rock, Edgewater Mexican Cafe, SOUNDOFF, Edgewater Tacos and more.

Hosting a “Bryn Mawrkets” event is the latest in a series of initiatives CTA has undertaken to promote businesses in the RPM project area in Uptown, Edgewater, Andersonville and Lakeview East. Recent promotions have included a social media tote bag giveaway, installation of Open for Business banners and sandwich boards and promotional interviews with business owners.

The Open for Business program was created to support small businesses, nonprofit organizations and major attractions or entertainment venues impacted by CTA’s Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) Phase One Project. Program participants are included in marketing efforts such as promotional banners, promotional videos and more that encourage people to shop, eat, play and explore within the impacted RPM project area.
