CTA Recommends Riders Traveling To or From O'Hare Airport Allow Extra Travel Time

July 23, 2011
The CTA announced that trains resumed operation between the O'Hare and Rosemont stations this afternoon.  Shuttle buses had been in place earlier in the day between the two stations as a result of Saturday's early morning storms.

The agency urges riders traveling to or from O'Hare on the Blue Line to allow extra travel time as trains are single tracking between the two stations to allow repairs to continue on the signal system which was also impacted by the heavy rain.

Single track operation is expected to continue through Sunday while crews finalize repairs to signals in the area.  The agency plans to resume normal service between O'Hare and Rosemont in time for the Monday morning rush.

"Our crews have been out since the storm hit working to restore full service across the system," said CTA President Forrest Claypool. "We will continue to work to address other affected areas of the system so we can return operations to a normal schedule for our riders."
