The CTA will provide extra service on two bus lines Saturday and Sunday, July 31-August 1, for Jazzfest ?99 at the South Shore Cultural Center, 71st Street and South Shore Drive. Festival hours are from noon until 8 p.m. both days.
Extra buses on the #27 South Deering route both Saturday and Sunday will provide service every 10 minutes from about 11 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. between 63rd/Cottage Grove and Commercial/92nd. Service between 92nd Street and the south end of the route at 112th Street and Torrence Avenue will continue to operate every 20 minutes, according to the regular weekend schedule. Toward the end of each night's performances, extra #27 buses will await riders at 71st and South Shore to proceed to both ends of the route.
Connections can be made to #27 buses from any crossing bus line between 63rd and 92nd, and from Green Line trains at 63rd/Cottage Grove.
Also serving Jazzfest ?99 will be buses on the #71 71st Street route that begin their trips east on 71st from the Red Line station at 69th and the Dan Ryan. #71 buses will operate 8 to 10 minutes apart on their regular schedule Saturday, and extra buses on Sunday will provide a similar frequency of service.
After each evening's performances, extra #71 buses will be staged at 71st and South Shore for trips west to the Red Line station at 69th.
