Cubs Visit White Sox This Weekend for Second Round of Inter-League Play

CTA provides convenient and affordable bus and train service for baseball fans heading to the South Side for the Sox-Cubs series this weekend. The first game of the three-game series begins Friday, June 22 at 3:05 p.m. Saturday's game begins at 12:05 p.m. and Sunday's game starts at 1:05 p.m.

Approximately 90 minutes before each game, CTA staff will greet customers at Sox-35th Red Line station and distribute commemorative 2007 Crosstown Series posters to customers who use the Red Line to get to the game. Posters will be handed out as long as supplies last.

The Red Line provides direct service to Sox-35th station, just steps away from U.S. Cellular Field. Red Line trains operate between Howard and 95th, making stops at the accessible Sox-35th station. Free connections can be made from Purple Line trains at Howard, from all elevated lines serving the Loop, or from Brown Line trains at Belmont and Fullerton.

The Green Line also provides a convenient travel option to U.S. Cellular Field. The accessible Green Line station at 35th-Bronzeville-IIT is a few blocks east of the field. Fans can walk to the ballpark or transfer to #35 35th buses which stop at the park. Green Line trains operate on the City's South Side from 63rd/Ashland and East 63rd/Cottage Grove, and Lake and Harlem in Oak Park.

U.S. Cellular Field is also served by #35 35th buses that stop at accessible stations at 35th Street on the Green and Orange Lines, as well as the Red Line.

#29 State buses that operate on State Street between the Red Line terminal at 95th Street and Navy Pier provide another nearby travel option.

Bus customers who use CTA fare media pay $1.75 to ride and may transfer for a 25 cent fee. Rail customers who use Chicago Card or Chicago Card Plus pay $1.75 and transfers are an additional 25 cents. For rail customers who use a magnetic strip transit card, or for customers who pay cash on either the bus or rail system, the fare is $2. Transfers are not available for customers paying fares in cash.
