CTA Provides Convenient Service to Gay Games VII

Chicago Transit Authority service is the most effective way to travel to the Gay Games VII, Saturday, July 15 through Saturday, July 22. CTA will provide extra service for the opening ceremony July 15 at Soldier Field and for the closing ceremony July 22 at Wrigley Field.

Opening Ceremony ? Saturday, July 15

Extra bus service will be available for spectators and participants going to the Gay Games VII opening ceremony at Soldier Field. The ceremony will begin at 8 p.m. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.

Bus Service

CTA will provide additional buses on the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express to Soldier Field and on the #12 Roosevelt bus route between State Street and Soldier Field three hours before the ceremony, and for one hour after the ceremony ends.

Rail Service

The CTA's Red, Orange and Green Line trains stop a few blocks away from Soldier Field at Roosevelt and State. CTA will operate longer and more frequent service on the Red, Orange and Green Lines and provide additional CTA personnel at the Roosevelt Green/Orange Line elevated and the Red Line subway stations to assist customers.

Closing Ceremony ? Saturday, July 22

Additional bus service will be available for spectators and participants going to the closing ceremony at Wrigley Field. The closing ceremony will begin at 3 p.m.

Bus Service

CTA will provide additional bus service on the #152 Addison and #22 Clark routes two hours before the ceremony, and for one hour after the ceremony ends.

#152 Addison buses operate between the Addison station on the Blue Line O'Hare branch and the east terminal at Lake Shore Drive.

#22 Clark buses operate north through the Loop on Dearborn and south on Clark from Howard.

In addition, spectators can access Wrigley Field from the #8 Halsted, which operates north on Halsted between 79th Street and Broadway and Waveland.

Rail Service

CTA's Red Line serves Wrigley Field via the accessible station at Addison. Spectators can transfer to Red Line trains from all other rail lines and from most east-west bus routes.

Gay Games VII Triathlon ? Sunday, July 16

Additionally, Lake Shore Drive will be closed between Randolph and Foster from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Sunday to accommodate the Gay Games Triathlon. The following bus routes may experience intermittent service delays: #12 Roosevelt, #130 Grant Park Treasures, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and the #147 Outer Drive Express. Customers should allow extra travel time.
