CTA Provides Convenient Bus and Rail Service for Venetian Night

The Chicago Transit Authority will provide extra bus and rail service for Venetian Night, the Grant Park Orchestra concert at Millennium Park and the fireworks at Monroe Harbor on Saturday evening, July 30.

The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Pritzker Pavilion just east of Randolph/ Michigan. The Venetian Night parade of boats begins at 8:30 p.m. between the Shedd Aquarium and the Chicago Yacht Club at Monroe Harbor. The fireworks display begins at 9:30 p.m. and is visible along the lakefront from the Adler Planetarium to Navy Pier.

Bus Service

Additional bus service will be provided on the following routes serving downtown: #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #12 Roosevelt, #20 Madison, #22 Clark, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #66 Chicago #124 Navy Pier, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan.

Later service will be provided on the #14 Jeffery Express route for spectators leaving downtown. Southbound buses will operate every 15 minutes from Michigan/Washington until 11 p.m.

Later service also will be provided on the #65 Grand route. Eastbound #65 buses will operate every 15 minutes from Grand/Nordica to Navy Pier until 8:15 p.m. Westbound buses will leave the pier every few minutes for one hour after the fireworks end.

Rail Service

Longer trains and more frequent service will operate on the Red, Blue and Brown Green and Orange Lines from 5:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. The last trains will depart downtown at their regularly scheduled times.

There will be additional Customer Assistants on hand at CTA rail stations in the Loop to help customers with travel and fare information.

Park & Ride Facilities

Parking is available for approximately 6,600 cars at CTA's 17 Park & Ride facilities. Rates are $3 at Rosemont and Forest Park and $2 at all other locations. Park & Ride stations are listed on CTA's system map and on the CTA's web site at www.transitchicago.com. Customers may also obtain information on Park & Ride facilities by calling 836-7000 from any local area code.
