CTA Provides Convenient Bus and Rail Service for Venetian Night

The Chicago Transit Authority will provide extra bus and rail service on Saturday evening, July 26, to accommodate customers heading to the 51st Annual Venetian Night festivities.

The free Grant Park Musical Festival concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Pritzker Pavilion just east of Randolph and Michigan. The Venetian Night parade of boats begins at 8:30 p.m. between the Shedd Aquarium and the Chicago Yacht Club at Monroe Harbor. The fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m.

Bus Service
Starting in the late afternoon, more frequent bus service will be provided on the following routes serving downtown: #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #12 Roosevelt, #14 Jeffery Express, #29 State, #56 Milwaukee, #65 Grand, #66 Chicago, #124 Navy Pier and #147 Outer Drive Express.

On the #14 Jeffery Express route, more frequent service will be provided for customers heading downtown and later service will be provided for spectators leaving downtown in the evening. Southbound buses will operate approximately every 15 minutes from Washington/Jefferson until 11 p.m.

Additional and later service also will be provided on the #65 Grand route. In the evening, eastbound #65 buses will operate approximately every 20 minutes from Grand/Nordica to Navy Pier until 9:05 p.m. Westbound buses will leave Navy Pier approximately every 12-15 minutes following the fireworks display until 11 p.m.

Rail Service
Longer trains and more frequent service will be provided in the evening on the Red and Blue Lines.

Operating on regular schedules, longer trains will run on the Brown, Green, Orange and Pink Lines. The last trains will depart at their regularly scheduled times.

Additional CTA personnel will be on hand at CTA rail stations in the Loop to help customers with travel and fare information.

Park & Ride Facilities
Parking is available for approximately 6,200 cars at facilities adjacent to 18 CTA rail stations, mainly at terminals, throughout the CTA system. Rates are $3 at Rosemont and Forest Park and $2 at all other locations. Park & Ride locations are listed on CTA's system map and on CTA's web site at www.transitchicago.com. Customers also may obtain information on Park & Ride facilities by calling 836-7000 from any local area code.
