CTA President Officially Welcomes New Tenant to the Belmont Red/Brown/Purple Line Station

October 14, 2011

Chicago Transit Authority President Forrest Claypool today welcomed the newest tenant of CTA retail and concession spaces, Maui Wowi Hawaiian – a gourmet Hawaiian coffee and smoothie bar – located at the Belmont Red/Brown/Purple Line station (945 W. Belmont Avenue). The Belmont concession space features two customer service windows – one inside the stationhouse for CTA customers and one street-facing window for customers walking along the street.

“We’re pleased to welcome Maui Wowi to the CTA. Concession stands help anchor CTA stations in the surrounding neighborhoods and make public transit a more convenient and inviting mode of transportation,” said Claypool. “Maui Wowi is an example of the variety of new amenities the CTA provides and will strive to offer customers at other retail and concession spaces across the system.”

Maui Wowi Hawaiian serves gourmet coffees shipped exclusively from Hawaii and all-natural, no preservative, fresh fruit smoothies. Customers also can purchase fresh baked goods, Hawaiian teas, energy bars or packaged roasted coffee beans to enjoy at home.

Concession spaces are advertised with Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) and reflect market value for similar properties in each respective area.  Earlier this year, CTA amended its purchase and sales regulations to allow JLL to broker leases of available retail concession properties on the open market. Information on available retail concession spaces can be obtained at ctarealestate.com.
