First Rate Increase at the Agency’s Park & Ride Lots in Four Years
The Chicago Transit Authority has announced 2009 parking rate increases for Park & Ride lots beginning January 1, 2009. It is the first rate increase at these Park & Ride lots since January 2005.
“Using Park & Ride lots and continuing the trip into the city with the CTA offers a great value to customers,” said CTA President Ron Huberman. “The lots are conveniently located and offer an alternative to paying parking fees downtown.”
Parking for over 5,700 cars is available at 17 CTA Park & Ride locations – excluding lots not overseen by the CTA, including the Red Line Howard lot and municipal lots at Forest Park on the Blue Line. All Park & Ride locations are listed on CTA’s system map and on the CTA web site, www.transitchicago.com. Customers also may obtain information on Park & Ride facilities by calling 836-7000 from any local area code. A complete list of locations and price comparison is below.
The money from the rate increases does not go entirely to the CTA. Parking taxes are collected from each transaction on behalf of either the City or County, depending on the parking lot’s location. CTA expects the rate increase will generate approximately $1 million annually.

Please note: The parking rate increase at the Skokie lot goes into effect January 6, 2009.
