01/24/00

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses from North Michigan Avenue and State Street downtown Wednesday, January 26, for the basketball game at 8 p.m. between the De Paul Blue Demons and the ninth-ranked University of Florida Gators.

De Paul University students heading for the game from the North Side campus can take Brown Line trains from the Fullerton or Armitage stations, and transfer to #19 buses westbound on Madison from the Washington/Wells 'L' station downtown. After the game, students returning to the North Side can transfer from #19 buses to the Brown Line at State/Lake.

Fully accessible #19 United Center Express buses will begin their trips on Michigan southbound at Chicago Avenue, starting about 6 p.m., and will run every 12 minutes until a half hour before the start of the game.

After leaving Chicago Avenue, #19 buses make their only other stop on Michigan at Illinois Street before turning west on Wacker and heading south on State to Madison. Along State, buses make stops at Lake and at Washington.

Westbound on Madison, stops are made just west of State and again at Wells for riders transferring from other bus or 'L' lines. The next stop is at Clinton for Metra riders from the Ogilvie Transportation Center (North Western Station) and Union Station. From Halsted the buses run express to the United Center at Wolcott.

After the game, #19 United Express buses will await riders eastbound on Madison at Wolcott for return trips downtown via Madison, Halsted, Washington, State and Wacker back to Michigan. The buses will stop for the Ogilvie Center and Union Station at Canal, for the Blue Line subway at Dearborn, for the Red Line at State/Randolph, and for Brown, Green, and Orange Line trains at State/Lake. Once the buses enter Michigan Avenue, they will then make all stops north to Chicago.
