CTA’s trains and buses are the best ways to get to various sporting events, concerts, neighborhood festivals including the West Fest in West Town; Construction work to temporarily impact the Green Line
Let CTA get you to all the fun summer events across town. Customers can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move.
Service for Upcoming Events
West Fest
West Town, Chicago Avenue between Wood and Damen – Fri. 7/18 at 5 p.m., Sat. 7/19 and Sun. 7/20 at 12 p.m.

Tacos y Tamales Fest
Pilsen, Blue Island between Wolcott and Ashland – Fri. 7/18 at 5 p.m., Sat. 7/19 and Sun. 7/20 at 12 p.m.
Service:
- Bus: Several CTA routes will provide the closest service to the festival including the following:
- #9 Ashland
- #X9 Ashland Express
- #21 Cermak
- #50 Damen
- #60 Blue Island/26th

United Center Events
- Phish – Fri. 7/18, Sat. 7/19 and Sun. 7/20 at 7:30 p.m.
Service:
- Rail: Take the Green Line and exit at the new Damen station or exit at the Ashland station from either a Green or Pink line train.
- Bus: Get to and from the following events via the #20 Madison and #50 Damen bus routes. Customers can also take the #19 United Center Express route post event.
Soldier Field
Blackpink – Fri. 7/18 at 8 p.m.
Service:
- Rail: The Red, Orange and Green lines provide the closest access to Soldier Field. Exit at the Roosevelt station.
- Bus: Service on the #146 Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express route.

Navy Pier Fireworks
Service on the #29 State, #65 Grand, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier routes.
- Sat. 7/19 at 10 p.m.
- Wed. 7/23 at 9 p.m.
Wrigley Field
- Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago Cubs – Fri. 7/18 at 1:20 p.m., Sat. 7/19 at 6:15 p.m., Sun. 7/20 at 1:20 p.m.
- Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago Cubs – Mon. 7/21 and Tue. 7/22 at 7:05 p.m., Wed. 7/23 at 1:20 p.m.
Service:
- Red Line: The Addison station is located just a half block east of Wrigley Field.
- Purple Line: Before weeknight events only, Loop-bound Purple Line Express trains will stop at the Sheridan station.
- Yellow Line: Take the Yellow Line and transfer at Howard to the Red Line; continue to Addison station. To accommodate fans returning home, the Yellow Line will run for an hour later from Howard – until midnight – for all night games at Wrigley Field.
- #152 Addison: The #152 route will provide additional service on Cubs game days, with more frequent service two hours before and one hour after all games.
- Adjacent bus routes: Several CTA bus routes serve the Wrigley Field area, including:
- #8 Halsted
- #22 Clark
- #36 Broadway
- #80 Irving Park
- #151 Sheridan
There is a possibility that service can be rerouted.
Beach Service
Now through mid-August, service to the lakefront has been expanded to weekdays and
will operate directly to Chicago’s beaches on the following bus routes:
Buses will operate to/from beaches between approximately 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Green Line Service
- Between 10 p.m., Fri. 7/18 and 3:30 a.m., Mon. 7/3 rail service on the Green Line between Garfield and Ashland/63rd stations will be temporarily suspended. (More details)
- Green Line trains will operate between Harlem/Lake and Cottage Grove only. Connect between Green Line trains and shuttle buses at Garfield station.
- Shuttle buses replace rail service between Garfield and Ashland/63rd stations.
- Additionally, shuttle buses will make connections with Red Line trains at the 63rd station.
- This service change is due to track maintenance work to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Green Line.
Construction Work to Temporarily Impact Green Line Service
- Between 4 a.m. Mon. 7/21 and 4 a.m., Tue. 7/22 Ashland/63rd-bound trains will not stop at the Halsted station on the Green Line (More details)
- For Ashland/63rd service from this station, take a westbound #63 63rd bus from Halsted/63rd to Ashland/63rd; or take a Harlem-bound train to Garfield and transfer to an Ashland/63rd-bound train.
- For Ashland/63rd service to this station, take an Ashland/63rd-bound train to Ashland/63rd, transfer to an eastbound #63 63rd bus at the Ashland/63rd bus terminal and exit at Halsted/63rd; or transfer to a Harlem-bound train.
- This service change is due to track maintenance work happening at the Halsted station.
Added Service on Five Bus Routes
CTA has expanded the hours of service and overnight routing on the following routes:
- #4 Cottage Grove
- More service on Sundays
- Overnight “Owl” service is also extended south from 63rd to 95th / Dyan Ryan Red Line Station
- #18 16th/18th Street
- Expanding service to 10:30pm daily
- #66 Chicago
- More service weekdays
- Overnight “Owl” service extended west from Pulaski to Austin
- #147 Outer DuSable Lakeshore Express
- Expanding to 11:30pm daily
- #157 Streeterville/Taylor
- Expanding service until 9:30pm on weekdays
