Belmont Blue station closure to occur this weekend; Free shuttle bus service provided

CTA is the most convenient, affordable and environmentally friendly way to get to the 2019 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle on Sunday, March 24.

We recommend “shufflers” load their Ventra cards with cash value or unlimited-ride passes a few days in advance of the big race so they can skip the lines and get straight to the action!  More information about purchasing fares is below.

Note: Street closures, reroutes and traffic congestion may affect estimated bus arrival times on CTA Bus Tracker. For the most up-to-date information, please visit:  transitchicago.com/alerts.

CTA will also provide additional service for Bulls and Blackhawks games at the United Center.

Improvements to Belmont Blue Station Require Weekend Closure
Upgrades associated with the Your New Blue Modernization Program will require the temporary closure of the Belmont Blue Line station this weekend from 10 p.m. Friday, March 22 until 4 a.m. Monday, March 25.

During this temporary weekend station closure, a free bus shuttle service will operate between the Belmont and Logan Square stations. CTA encourages customers to allow for extra travel time, especially this Shamrock Shuffle weekend when additional riders are anticipated.

This closure is necessary for crews to continue station upgrades, including the construction and installation of a steel canopy covering the station entrance and bus boarding area. Additional improvements to the Belmont Station include new signage, replacement of the platform surface at track level, electrical upgrades, replacement of the concrete in the bus turnaround and other aesthetic improvements.

Buy your unlimited ride passes and fares in advance
Avoid long lines to buy fares! Customers can add  unlimited ride passes (1-day, 3-day, 7-day and 30-day) or add money to pay per-ride to their Ventra cards ahead of time via the free Ventra app, at rail station Ventra vending machines, online or at more than 1,000 local retailers (for locations visit ventrachicago.com or the Ventra app).

Customers can also purchase 1-day unlimited ride tickets ($10) or single-ride tickets ($3) from all Ventra vending machines. Single-ride tickets include up to two transfers in two hours. Customers can also pay their fares with their personal contactless debit or credit cards.
