Anyone interested in a career in construction is invited to learn about CTA construction projects, the job opportunities on them and workforce resources available
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will host building trade labor unions, workforce partners, and contractors in the construction industry in an event on Tuesday, August 8, to connect individuals interested in career resources, training and job opportunities on CTA’s transformational projects, such as the Red & Purple Modernization (RPM) Phase I, Red Line Extension (RLE), the All Stations Accessible Program (ASAP), the Western Brown Line station rehabilitation and the multi-phased Forest Park Branch Rebuild.
This workforce outreach event includes the opportunities to engage with workforce agencies and connect with contractors and union representatives such as:
- Local 150 – Operating Engineers
- Local 134 – IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers)
- Local 9 - IBEW
- Indiana Illinois and Iowa Foundation for Fair Contracting
- Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership
- HIRE360
“This event provides a unique opportunity to develop partnerships with organizations such as the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, HIRE360, Operating Engineers Union, and two Electricians local unions,” said JuanPablo Prieto, CTA Director of Diversity Programs. “At the end of the day, all the organizations and businesses participating want to see that we promote diversity in construction, and it’s a mission of the CTA to provide opportunities for the workforce building trades, that provide family-sustaining, middle-class jobs. CTA strives for workforce on our projects that reflects the communities we serve.”
Tomorrow’s event is the latest in a series of measures taken by the CTA to extend career opportunities to help foster economic growth in the communities it serves:
