The Chicago Transit Board today approved changes to parking fees for 13 Park & Ride lots and 11 Under ‘L’ parking lots, generating new revenue for the Chicago Transit Authority while also providing new monthly parking for the first time at some Park & Ride locations.
The changes will mean a decrease in some parking fees and an increase in others while allowing the CTA to determine parking fees and terms based on individual locations.

list of locations and rates is below. The parking rate adjustments apply to Park & Ride and Under “L” locations managed by CPS Chicago Parking. The contract with CPS guarantees CTA a minimum of $1.6 million annually. It is estimated the adjustments to the parking rates will generate an additional $90,000 per year.
“Customizing the fees and options for each marketplace will allow CTA to maximize the value of these facilities - it allows us to be more strategic,” said CTA President Forrest Claypool. “Rates at locations where demand is high can increase to reflect demand, while sites where lots are not full can decrease to attract additional customers. Adding a monthly parking option allows customers to select the option that is best suited to their needs.”
Starting November 1, monthly parking options will be newly available at four Orange Line Park & Ride lots – Halsted/Archer, 35th/Archer, Western/49th and 48th/Kedzie. Park & Ride lots on the Pink Line (54th/Cermak), Green Line (Ashland/63rd), Brown Line (Kimball/Lawrence) and Blue Line (Harlem/Higgins) will also add monthly parking options.
The monthly Park & Ride fee at the Garfield Green Line lot will decrease while the monthly rate at the Forest Park (Blue), and Midway and Pulaski stations (Orange) will increase. Customers who use the Cumberland Park & Ride on the Blue Line will have two monthly parking options, $100/month for a 14-hour day or $129/month for a 24-hour day.
Daily parking fees at the Blue Line’s Cumberland and Harlem/Higgins and the Orange Line’s Midway Park & Ride lots will increase to $5.
Monthly parking rates at Under ‘L’ lots will decrease to $40 along the Pink Line from Polk to California, the Green Line from 35th to 47th and the Red Line from Sheridan to Thorndale. A flat fee of $75 for monthly Under ‘L’ parkers will go into effect along the Brown Line from Chicago to Sedgwick and Belmont to Western, along the Red Line from Belmont to Sheridan, along the Blue Line from Chicago to Damen and Damen to Belmont, and along the Green Line from Roosevelt to 35th. Monthly Under ‘L’ parking will be newly available along the Brown Line from the Merchandise Mart to Chicago.
In addition, at today’s meeting the Chicago Transit Board today also approved three new leases for concession spaces at the Jackson Blue Line station and the Morse and Argyle Red Line stations that will bring more amenities to customers and generate additional revenue for the CTA.
