The 2003 Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place South will be served by buses on three CTA routes from Friday, February 14 through Sunday, February 23 at all hours the show is open. These buses will operate to McCormick Place directly from Metra stations west of the Loop, from downtown, from North Michigan Avenue, and from the South and West Sides. Customers can transfer to these buses from other bus routes and from all 'L' and subway lines serving downtown.
Auto Show hours are from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily except Sunday, February 23, when the show closes at 8 p.m. #3 King Drive buses serve McCormick Place from North Michigan Avenue and the South Side. #21 Cermak buses operate via Cermak from the West Side. #127 North Western/Madison buses serve McCormick Place from Union Station, the Ogilvie Transportation Center (North Western Station) and Washington Street downtown. Fares are $1.50 for customers 12 and older. Children seven through 11 pay 75 cents.
In addition to daily service on the #3, #21 and #127 routes, accessible shuttle buses will operate to McCormick Place on weekends from the Orange Line 'L' at Halsted, starting at 9:45 a.m. The last shuttle will leave McCormick Place for the Halsted station at 11 p.m. (9 p.m. on February 23). #21 Cermak buses and Orange Line shuttle buses also serve the Cermak-Chinatown Red Line station.
Buses on the #127 route will operate directly from Union Station and the Ogilvie Transportation Center to Gate 26 on the lower level of McCormick Place South, beneath the exhibition hall. The buses will run about every six to eight minutes, starting an hour before the show opens each day, and leaving McCormick Place until one hour after the show closes.
#127 buses start their trips from Union Station north on Canal at Adams. Stops are made at both Madison and Washington for the Ogilvie Center before the buses make regular stops east on Washington, south on Michigan and east on Roosevelt to Columbus. The buses then run express to McCormick Place. Customers can transfer to #127 buses on Washington from the Blue Line at Dearborn, the Red Line at State, and from 'L' trains serving the Madison/Wabash station (one block south of Washington).
