CTA Buses Rerouted Around Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Chicago Transit Authority will detour 16 bus routes off State Street and adjacent downtown streets around the State Street Thanksgiving Day Parade, Thursday, November 23. The parade will start at 8:30 a.m. and proceed north on State from Congress to Randolph. State will be closed from Van Buren to Wacker until approximately 1 p.m.

CTA will detour buses operating in the area of the parade beginning in the early morning. Customers should allow extra travel time.

The affected routes are the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #22 Clark, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer, #124 Navy Pier, #126 Jackson, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan.

There will be additional CTA personnel on hand in the downtown area to assist customers.

All CTA buses and trains will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule for the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday.

Bus Reroutes
While State Street is closed, buses on the #6, #10, #145, and #147 routes will operate northbound and southbound on Michigan between Wacker and Congress. The #146 will operate on Michigan to Balbo.

Northbound #14 buses will operate via Balbo, Michigan, South Water, Wabash, Wacker, Clark to Madison, then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will operate via Washington, Dearborn, Wacker, Michigan, Madison, then resume the regular route.

#22 Clark buses will end their southbound trips at Clark and Congress before resuming northbound service via Congress to Dearborn. Buses will not operate south of Congress.

Northbound #29 buses will operate via State, Roosevelt, Clark, Harrison, Dearborn, Wacker, back to State, then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will operate via State, Wacker, Clark, Roosevelt, back to State, then resume the regular route.

Southbound #36 buses will operate via State, Wacker, Clark, Congress to Dearborn where they will begin northbound trips on the regular route. Buses will not operate south of Congress.

Northbound #62 buses will operate via State, Roosevelt, Clark, Harrison Dearborn, then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will operate via State, Wacker, Clark, Roosevelt, back to State then resume the regular route.

#20, #56 and #60 buses will end their eastbound trips at Washington and Clark before returning via Clark, Monroe, Dearborn to Madison to resume the regular route.

Eastbound #124 buses will operate via Washington, Dearborn, Illinois, Columbus and the regular route to Navy Pier. Westbound buses will operate via Grand, Clark, Madison, then resume the regular route.

#126 buses will end eastbound trips at Jackson and Dearborn before returning to Adams to resume westbound service.

Northbound #151 buses will operate via Jackson, Dearborn, Wacker to Michigan, then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will operate via Michigan, Wacker, Clark to Adams, then resume the regular route.
