CTA BUS LINES DETOURED BY MIDDAY CLOSING OF WASHINGTON ST. BRIDGE SEPTEMBER 7-10

September 3, 1999
09/03/99

Three CTA bus lines that use the Washington Street bridge to cross the Chicago River at midday will be detoured by repair work that will close the bridge to all traffic from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, through Friday, September 10.

The affected bus lines are the #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee and #157 Streeterville. While work on the Washington Street bridge is under way, these buses will use Canal north to Lake, go east on Lake to Wacker, and south on Wacker back to Washington, where they will return to their regular routes. Customers using these buses at midday Tuesday through Friday should allow extra travel time to complete their trips.

Some early afternoon rush period buses on the #14 South Lake Shore Express route may also be affected by the bridge repair work. Most #14 buses and rush period service on the #120 NorthWestern/Wacker Express, #122 Illinois Center/NorthWestern Express and #127 NW/Madison routes will remain on their regular routes.
