CTA BUS AND RAIL SERVICE FOR TALL SHIPS CHICAGO AND VENETIAN NIGHT

Chicago Transit Authority will provide extra bus and rail service for two major events taking place in downtown Chicago this weekend. Tall Ships Chicago runs from today, July 31 to Monday, August 4 and Venetian Night and fireworks will be held Saturday evening, August 2.

TALL SHIPS CHICAGO

CTA will provide extra service for this event through Sunday evening.

Bus Service
#124 Navy Pier (accessible) bus route will operate additional buses between Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station and Navy Pier from 8:35 a.m. until 12:10 a.m. Buses will operate at 5-minute intervals, rather than the usual 15-minute intervals.

Extra buses will operate on #29 State (accessible) and #66 Chicago (accessible) Friday evening, and all day Saturday and Sunday.

#65 Grand (accessible) will operate extra buses to Navy Pier Saturday and Sunday, with the last buses leaving the pier at 7:10 p.m. both evenings.

Rail Service
Yellow Line trains will run until midnight from Howard to Skokie Thursday and Friday night.

Additionally, special Yellow Line train service will operate from 9 a.m. until midnight Saturday and Sunday. Yellow Line trains connect to Red Line trains at Howard for trips downtown. (Note: The Yellow Line typically does not operate on weekends.)

VENETIAN NIGHT

Along with the extra service in place the entire weekend for Tall Ships Chicago, CTA will provide additional bus and rail service for Venetian Night and fireworks on Saturday night, August 2.

Bus Service
In addition to the extra service on routes serving Navy Pier, CTA will provide extra bus service on the following routes serving downtown:

#6 Jeffery Express (accessible), #56 Milwaukee (accessible), #60 Blue Island/26th (accessible), #62 Archer (accessible), #146 Marine/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan (accessible).

Rail Service
More frequent service and eight-car trains will operate on the Blue Line. Trains from Forest Park will operate every 7 1/2 - 10 minutes from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. Trains serving the O'Hare Branch will operate at the same frequency between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Longer trains will operate on the Brown Line from 10:45 a.m. until 11:40 p.m.

Longer trains will operate on the Green Line from 6:40 p.m. until 1 a.m.

Longer trains will operate on the Orange Line from 8:30 p.m. until 10:25 p.m. Four-car trains will continue running until 12:51 p.m.
