CTA Appoints New Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer

The Chicago Transit Board today approved the appointment of Karen Walker as Treasurer for the CTA.  In addition to her duties as Treasurer, Ms. Walker is also assuming the position of Chief Financial Officer. 

Most recently Ms. Walker was the Director of Financial Services at the Illinois Finance Authority and has held positions at A.G. Edwards, Banc of America Securities, Merrill Lynch and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, in addition to operating her own financial services firm.

“We are pleased to have someone with such depth of financial experience join CTA,” said Chicago Transit Board Chairman Carole Brown.  “This is a particularly difficult financial time for every market sector and we look forward to working with Karen to develop solutions to stabilize CTA’s finances.”

Ms. Walker earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a Certified Public Accountant, Masters in Business Administration, Finance Concentration from the University of California at Los Angeles – Anderson School.

She is also a member of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators and the National Association of Securities Professionals.  In addition, Ms. Walker is an Advisory Board member for Roosevelt University Chicago School of Real Estate.
