CTA’S #130 GRANT PARK TREASURES BUS ROUTE RESUMES WEEKEND SERVICE TO LAKEFRONT MUSEUMS

Mother's Day weekend means the resumption of summer service on CTA's #130 Grant Park Treasures buses between the Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station, LaSalle Street Station and the city's downtown lakefront museum campus. The buses will operate Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from Saturday, May 8 through Labor Day, Monday, September 6.

The museum campus, comprised of the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium is among the attractions served by #130 buses. Other attractions served by the route include the Art Institute, the Spertus Museum of Judaica (closed Saturdays), the Museum of Contemporary Photography (closed Sundays) and Buckingham Fountain.

#130 buses begin their trips in front of the Ogilvie Center westbound on Madison at Clinton. After turning south on Clinton, the buses stop at Union Station eastbound on Jackson at Canal. Buses stop at LaSalle Street Station eastbound on Jackson at Financial Place. Continuing east on Jackson to Michigan, the buses run south to Balbo and east into Grant Park and south on Columbus to the lakefront museums.

Customers can transfer to #130 buses from the accessible Blue Line subway station at Jackson and Dearborn, the accessible Red Line subway station at Jackson and State, and from Brown and Orange Line trains using the accessible Library-State/Van Buren 'L' station one block south of Jackson at State. Customers from the Green Line can connect to #130 buses from the Adams/Wabash 'L' station.

#130 buses run every 15 minutes, with trips from the Ogilvie Transportation Center operating from 9:20 a.m. until 5:35 p.m. on Saturdays and 10:20 a.m. until 5:35 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. Return trips from the Adler Planetarium begin 30 minutes later, with the last bus leaving at 6:05 p.m.

The lakefront museums are also served daily by #12 Roosevelt buses, operating east and west on Roosevelt and by #146 Inner Drive/Michigan buses, which stop along Michigan Avenue north of the Chicago River and serve State Street downtown. Customers can also walk to the museums from the accessible Red, Green and Orange Line 'L' stations at Roosevelt or transfer to a #12 Roosevelt bus to complete their trips.
