Construction Work Impacts Green and Orange Line Service this Weekend

November 20, 2008

Rail service between the 35th-Bronzeville-IIT and Roosevelt stations on the Green Line will be temporarily suspended from 1:30 a.m., Saturday, November 22 until 4 a.m., Monday, November 24 while crews conduct repair work on the Green and Orange Line elevated structure and replace deteriorated rail ties and tracks.

CTA will operate bus shuttles between the Green Line 35th-Bronzeville-IIT station and the Red Line 35th station where customers can board Red Line trains to Roosevelt to complete their trip downtown or to board Green Line trains to continue their trips.

Customers on northbound Green Line trains who wish to attend the Magnificent Mile Parade can transfer to the Red Line and exit at Grand or Chicago.

Green Line trains will operate normally between the Harlem and Roosevelt stations and between the 35th-Bronzeville-IIT station and the south Green Line terminals of Ashland/63rd and East 63rd/Cottage Grove.

In addition, during these hours a single track will be in effect on the Orange Line between the Halsted and Roosevelt stations. Customers will board trains on the side of the platform they normally use; however, there may be delays in service.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
