04/13/00

Fans heading to Soldier Field for another Major League Soccer season will be served by CTA trains and extra buses on two lines, starting Saturday, April 15, when the Chicago Fire team takes on the Miami Fusion at 7 p.m.

CTA's Red Line subway station at Roosevelt Road and the adjacent 'L' station served by Green and Orange Line trains are within easy walking distance of Soldier Field via Roosevelt and the Museum Campus in Grant Park.

Soldier Field can also be reached by taking #12 Roosevelt buses, which operate east on Roosevelt from the western city limits to McFetridge Drive at the north end of the field. #146 Marine-Michigan buses serve Soldier Field from North Michigan Avenue and State Street downtown.

Before each game, #12 Roosevelt shuttle buses will supplement regular service to Soldier Field from the Red, Green and Orange Line rail stations at Roosevelt. After the games, shuttle buses on the #12 Roosevelt route will make return trips from McFetridge Drive back to the Roosevelt stations.

After each game also, extra buses on the #146 Marine-Michigan route will take riders to State Street downtown, while other #146 buses will operate over the regular route via State and North Michigan to the North Side.

For details about all CTA service, call 836-7000 (all local area codes).
