Brown Line Service Suspended St. Patrick’s Day Weekend between Southport and Belmont

March 14, 2012
Bus shuttle to supplement service as crews perform scheduled track maintenance work

Brown Line service will be temporarily suspended between the Southport and Belmont stations from 4 a.m. Saturday, March 17 until 7 p.m. Sunday, March 18, due to crews performing scheduled track maintenance work.

During these times, a bus shuttle will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops in both directions at the Southport and Belmont stations. All Brown Line stations are accessible to those with disabilities or who require elevator access.

With increased ridership anticipated for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend, customers planning to use the Brown Line to travel to/from events or festivities are advised to allow extra travel time.

Northbound (to Kimball) Brown Line customers must exit trains at the Belmont station. Customers who wish to continue traveling north of Belmont will need to transfer to the bus shuttle and connect to northbound (to Kimball) trains at the Southport station.

Southbound (to the Loop) Brown Line customers must exit at the Southport station. Customers who wish to continue traveling south of Southport will need to transfer to the bus shuttle and connect to southbound (to the Loop) trains at the Belmont station.

Brown Line trains will operate normally from Kimball to Southport and from Belmont to the Loop.

Red Line service will not be affected and trains will operate normally in both directions.
