BRIDGE RECONSTRUCTION DETOURS TWO CTA BUS LINES OFF ORLEANS

October 20, 2000
10/20/00Reconstruction of the Franklin-Orleans Bridge across the Chicago River will begin Monday, October 23, detouring two northbound rush-period CTA bus lines away from the bridge at Wacker for about eight months.

#37 Sedgwick/Ogden buses, which operate through the Loop northbound on Franklin, will go east on Wacker, north on LaSalle and west on Grand before returning to the regular route northbound on Orleans.

#125 Water Tower Express buses heading to Michigan Avenue from Union Station and the Ogilvie Transportation Center (North Western Station) will remain on Wacker eastbound from Lake and go north on LaSalle before turning east on Ohio over the regular route.

A new stop will be established for both #37 and #125 buses eastbound on Wacker between Franklin and Wells so customers can reach destinations north of the river across the Wells Street Bridge. Buses on both routes will continue to use Wells for southbound trips.

Northbound on LaSalle, #37 buses will stop at the 321 N. LaSalle Building and at Illinois before turning west on Grand and making all stops to Orleans. #125 buses will make the same stops on LaSalle and another at Grand before turning east on Ohio.
