Blue Line Subway Service Interruption

July 11, 2006
The last car of a northbound, 8-car Blue Line train derailed in the subway near the Grand station. Customers were evacuated from the Grand station and were escorted out of the subway tunnel through an emergency exit with the assistance of a CTA rail operator.

There is currently no service operating in the Dearborn Blue Line subway (Washington to Damen).

A bus shuttle is in place between the Washington and Damen stations in both directions.

Blue Line service from O'Hare into the Loop is operating to Damen/North Avenue. At Damen, customers can board a bus shuttle to the Washington station or board a #56 Milwaukee bus.

Blue Line service on the Forest Park branch is operating to the Washington station. At Washington, customers can board a bus shuttle that will operate north to Damen.

For alternate service, customers can take the #56 Milwaukee bus or other existing CTA service to get to their destinations.

Note: Anyone who wants to pick up belongings they left behind during the evacuation can come to the 1st Police District starting at 6 a.m., Wednesday, July 12. The district is located at 1718 S. State St., and can be reached by phone at 312-745-4290.
