Buses on three CTA routes will operate directly to McCormick Place South for the 2001 Chicago Auto Show, Friday, February 9, through Sunday, February 18. Visitors will be able to reach the show directly from North Michigan Avenue, from Metra stations, and from the South and West Sides. Customers can transfer to Auto Show buses from all 'L' lines serving downtown.
Auto Show hours are from noon to 10 p.m. Friday, February 9, and from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. for the remainder of the show. Buses on the #3 King Drive, #21 Cermak and #127 North Western/Madison routes will serve McCormick Place at all hours the show is open. In addition, shuttle buses will operate to McCormick Place on weekends from the Orange Line 'L' at Halsted.
Buses on the #127 North Western/Madison route, with signs showing ?McCormick Place," will operate directly from Union Station and the Ogilvie Transportation Center (North Western Station) to a protected lower level entrance to McCormick Place South, beneath the exhibition hall. The buses will run about every eight minutes, starting an hour before the show opens each day, and leaving McCormick Place until one hour after the show closes.
Starting from Union Station northbound on Canal at Adams, #127 buses stop at both Madison and Washington for the Ogilvie Center before turning east on Washington, going south on Michigan and entering Grant Park at Balbo for express trips to McCormick Place. Transfers can be made to these buses on Washington from the Blue Line subway at Dearborn, the Red Line at State, and from 'L' trains serving stations on Wabash at Randolph or Madison.
To reach McCormick Place from downtown, North Michigan Avenue, and the South Side, visitors can take #3 King Drive buses, which stop for McCormick Place on King Drive. From the West Side, McCormick Place is served by #21 Cermak buses, which operate daily east on Cermak from 54th Avenue in Cicero, and on the weekend by X21 Cermak Express buses from North Riverside Mall, which make limited stops along the same route.
On weekends, shuttle buses marked ?McCormick Place? will operate to the show from the Orange Line 'L' station at Halsted. Visitors can also transfer from the Red Line at Cermak to any bus traveling east on Cermak.
