February 7, 2002
02/07/02

Buses on three CTA routes will operate directly to McCormick Place South for the 2002 Chicago Auto Show, Friday, February 8, through Sunday, February 17. Visitors will be able to reach the show directly from North Michigan Avenue, from Metra stations, and from the South and West Sides. Customers can transfer to Auto Show buses from all 'L' lines serving downtown.

Auto Show hours are from noon to 10 p.m. Friday, February 8, and from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. for the remainder of the show. #3 King Drive buses from North Michigan Avenue and the South Side, #21 Cermak buses from the West Side, and #127 North Western/Madison buses from Metra stations west of the Loop will serve McCormick Place at all hours the show is open. Fares are $1.50 each way for customers 12 and older. Children 7 through 11 pay 75 cents. Exact fare is required.

#21 Cermak shuttle buses will operate to McCormick Place on weekends from the Orange Line 'L' at Halsted, starting at 9:45 a.m. The last #21 bus to the Orange Line will leave McCormick Place at 11 p.m. Also on weekends, X21 Cermak Express buses will serve McCormick Place from North Riverside Mall.

Buses on the #127 route will operate directly from Union Station and the Ogilvie Transportation Center (North Western Station) to a protected lower level entrance to McCormick Place South, beneath the exhibition hall. The buses will run about every eight to ten minutes, starting an hour before the show opens each day, and leaving McCormick Place until one hour after the show closes.

Starting from Union Station northbound on Canal at Adams, #127 buses stop at both Madison and Washington for the Ogilvie Center before turning east on Washington, going south on Michigan and entering Grant Park at Balbo for express trips to McCormick Place. Transfers can be made to these buses on Washington from the Blue Line subway at Dearborn, the Red Line at State, and from 'L' trains serving stations on Wabash at Randolph or Madison.

Buses serving the Auto Show are accessible to persons with disabilities. For information about all CTA service, call 836-7000 (all local area codes).
