CTA’s trains and buses are the best and most affordable ways to get to various sporting events and concerts across town; Construction work to impact the Red Line, Brown Line, Purple Line Express, Blue Line and Green Line

Let CTA be your number one travel option to get to work and school. Customers can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move.

Service for Upcoming Events

Wrigley Field

  • Philadelphia Phillies vs. Chicago Cubs – Fri. 4/25 at 1:20 p.m., Sat. 4/26 at 3:05 p.m. and Sun. 4/27 at 6:10 p.m.

Service:

  • Red Line: The Addison station is located just a half block east of Wrigley Field.
  • Purple Line: Before weeknight events only, Loop-bound Purple Line Express trains will stop at the Sheridan station.
  • Yellow Line: Take the Yellow Line and transfer at Howard to the Red Line; continue to Addison station. To accommodate fans returning home, the Yellow Line will run for an hour later from Howard – until midnight – for all night games at Wrigley Field.
  • #152 Addison:  The #152 route will provide additional service on Cubs game days, with more frequent service two hours before and one hour after all games.
  • Adjacent bus routes: Several CTA bus routes serve the Wrigley Field area, including:
  • #8 Halsted
  • #22 Clark
  • #36 Broadway
  • #80 Irving Park
  • #151 Sheridan

United Center Events

  • Katt Williams – Fri. 4/25 at 8 p.m.
  • Ivan Cornejo – Sat. 4/26 and Sun. 4/27 at 8 p.m.

Service:

  • Rail: Take the Green Line and exit at the new Damen station or exit at the Ashland station from either a Green or Pink line train.
  • Bus: Get to and from the following events via the #20 Madison and #50 Damen bus routes. Customers can also take the #19 United Center Express route post event.

Rate Field

  • Milwaukee Brewers vs. White Sox –Tue. 4/29 and Wed. 4/30 at 6:40 p.m., Thu. 5/1 at 1:10 p.m.  

Service:

  • Red Line: Rate Field is just one block west of the Sox-35th station.
  • Green Line: The 35th-Bronzeville-IIT station is just three blocks east of the ballpark.
  • #35 31st/35th: The #35 route (which connects with Orange and Green lines) is the main bus route providing service to the stadium and operates during all game times.
  • Adjacent bus routes: Several CTA bus routes serve the ballpark area, including:
    • #1 Bronzeville/Union Station (during Monday – Friday rush periods only)
    • #4 Cottage Grove
    • #24 Wentworth (which runs Monday – Friday to 8:30 p.m.)
    • #29 State
    • #31 31st (which runs Monday – Friday to 7 p.m.)
    • #39 Pershing (which connects with Orange and Green lines)
    • #44 Wallace/Racine

Construction Work to Temporarily Impact Red Line, Brown Line and Purple Line Express Service

  • Between 10 p.m., Fri. 4/25  and 4 a.m., Mon. 5/5, customers will board/exit Howard-bound Red Line trains on the Purple and Brown line side of the Howard-, Kimball and Linden-bound platform at the Belmont station. (More details)
  • Red Line trains to Howard will share the outside track with Brown Line trains to Kimball and Purple Line Express to Linden through Belmont station, which may result in minor delays.
  • This service change is to accommodate track and signal construction for the Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) project.

Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Blue Line Service

  • On the Blue Line customers will board/exit trains on the Forest Park-bound side of the platform at the Irving Park station on the following dates:
  • Fri. 4/25 at 10 p.m. – Sat. 4/26 at 7 a.m. (More details)
  • Sat. 4/26 at 10 p.m. – Sun. 4/27 at 7 a.m. (More details)
  • Sun. 4/27 at 10 p.m. – Mon. 4/28 at 4 a.m. (More details)
  • Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Addison and Montrose, resulting in minor delays.
  • This service change is due to IDOT work on the Kennedy Expressway.

Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Green Line Service

  • Between 4:30 a.m., Sat. 4/26 and 8 p.m., Sun. 4/27, rail service on the Green Line between Garfield and Ashland/63rd stations will be temporarily suspended. (More details)
  • Green Line trains will operate between Harlem/Lake and Cottage Grove only. Connect between Green Line trains and shuttle buses at Garfield station.
  • Shuttle buses replace rail service between Garfield and Ashland/63rd stations.
  • Additionally, shuttle buses will make connections with Red Line trains at the 63rd station.
  • This service change is due to track maintenance work to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Green Line.
