The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) today launched two new Problem Statements through its Innovation Studio focused on developing new solutions to engage with and support riders for a safe and comfortable ride for everyone. The Problem Statements address issues that arise when CTA riders and employees encounter people who are unhoused, who may be experiencing a mental health crisis, or when groups of youth and young adults congregate and create a disruptive environment. Construction to Begin in January on New, Fully Accessible State/Lake CTA Station 12/04/2025

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), in coordination with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), announced the upcoming start of construction on the new State/Lake Loop Elevated station in downtown Chicago. The existing 130-year-old station will close beginning Monday, January 5, 2026, to allow for demolition and the start of major construction activities for the new, fully accessible rail hub.
