CTA’s trains and buses are the best and most affordable ways to get to various sporting events, concerts, festivals and the Windy City Smokeout at United Center; Weekend construction work to temporarily impact the Pink, Green and Orange Lines

Let CTA take you to the wide range of fun festivities happening across the city. Customers can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move.

Service for Upcoming Events

Windy City Smokeout

United Center – Fri. 7/12 at 2 p.m., Sat. 7/13 and Sun. 7/14 at 1 p.m.

Service:

  • Rail: Take the Green and Pink Lines and exit at Ashland. Take the Blue Line and exit at the Illinois Medical District station (Damen entry/exit).
  • Bus: Get to and from the following event via the #20 Madison and #50 Damen bus routes provide the closest service to the event. Customers can also take the #19 United Center Express route post event.

Square Roots Fest

Lincoln Square, Lincoln Avenue between Montrose and Wilson – Fri. 7/12 at 5 p.m., Sat. 7/13 and Sun. 7/14 at 12 p.m.

Service:

  • Rail: Take the Brown Line and exit at the Western station.
  • Bus: Several CTA routes will provide the closest service to the festival including the following:
    • #11 Lincoln
    • #49 Western
    • #49B North Western
    • #11 Lincoln
    • #81 Lawrence

West Fest

West Town, Chicago Avenue between Wood and Damen – Fri. 7/12 at 5 p.m., Sat. 7/13 and Sun. 7/14 at 12 p.m.

Service:  

  • Bus: Several CTA routes will provide the closest service to the festival including the following:
    • #50 Damen
    • #66 Chicago

Miche Fest

Oakwood Beach – Sat. 7/13 and Sun. 7/14 at 1 p.m.

  • Bus: Get to the event via the #4 Cottage Grove, #39 Pershing and #43 43rd routes. Customers can also take the #4 route post event.

Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island

Service on the #146 Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express route

  • Cavetown & Mother Mother – Sat. 7/13 at 6:30 p.m.

Soldier Field

Service on the #146 Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express route

  • New York City FC vs. Chicago Fire FC – Sat. 7/13 at 7:30 p.m.

Navy Pier Fireworks

Service on the #29 State, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier routes.

  • Sat. 7/13 at 10 p.m.
  • Wed. 7/17 at 9 p.m. - #65 Grand route also available for this evening’s event.

Wrigley Field

  • Def Leppard, Journey, and Steve Miller Band – Mon. 7/15 at 5:30 p.m.

Service:

  • Red Line: The Addison station is located just a half block east of Wrigley Field.
  • Purple Line (New!): Before weeknight games only, Loop-bound Purple Line Express trains will stop at the Addison station.
  • Yellow Line: Take the Yellow Line and transfer at Howard to the Red Line; continue to Addison station. To accommodate fans returning home, the Yellow Line will run for an hour later from Howard – until midnight – for all night games at Wrigley Field.
  • #152 Addison:  The #152 route will provide additional service on Cubs game days, with more frequent service two hours before and one hour after all games.
  • #80 Irving Park: The #80 route will provide additional service before the games, timed to meet the inbound UP-NW Metra trains at Irving Park.
  • Adjacent bus routes: Several CTA bus routes serve the Wrigley Field area, including:
  • #8 Halsted
  • #22 Clark
  • #36 Broadway
  • #151 Sheridan

Guaranteed Rate Field

  • Pittsburg Pirates vs. Chicago White Sox – Fri. 7/12 at 7:10 p.m., Sat. 7/13 and Sun. 7/14 at 1:10 p.m.

Service:

  • Red Line: Guaranteed Rate Field is just one block west of the Sox-35th station.
  • Green Line: The 35th-Bronzeville-IIT station is just three blocks east of the ballpark.
  • #35 31st/35th: The #35 route (which connects with Orange and Green lines) is the main bus route providing service to the stadium and operates during all game times.
  • Adjacent bus routes: Several CTA bus routes serve the ballpark area, including:
    • #1 Bronzeville/Union Station (during Monday – Friday rush periods only)
    • #4 Cottage Grove
    • #24 Wentworth
    • #29 State (which runs Monday – Friday to 8:30 p.m.)
    • #31 31st (which runs Monday – Friday to 7 p.m.)
    • #39 Pershing (which connects with Orange and Green lines)
    • #44 Wallace/Racine

Summer Service to Navy Pier and Museums

The following routes are currently running a summer service schedule through Labor Day:

  • #124 Navy PierService will be extended by 90 minutes in the evening daily. Eastbound service from Union/Ogilvie stations will run until 11:30pm. Westbound service from Navy Pier will run until midnight.
  • #130 Museum Campus: Service between Union/Ogilvie stations and Museum Campus/Planetarium will operate daily.

Service to the Lakefront:

Now through mid-August, beach service will operate directly to the lakefront and its beaches on the following bus routes on both the Weekdays and Weekends. Buses will begin their trips to these beaches between approximately 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Pink Line Service

  • Between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sat. 7/13, rail service on the Pink Line will operate counterclockwise on the Outer Loop tracks (More details)
  • Customers should board/exit Pink Line trains on the Brown Line platform at all Loop stations.
  • This service change is due to track maintenance work.

Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Green and Orange Line Service

  • Between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sat. 7/13, rail service on Green and Orange Line trains will operate on the same track between Roosevelt and the Loop. (More details)
  • Customers should board/exit all trains on the Ashland/63rd-Cottage Grove and Midway-bound side of the platform at the Roosevelt elevated station.
  • This service change is due to track maintenance work.
