Changes go into effect at the start of service on Monday, August 23
Effective Monday, August 23, service along the #3 King Drive and #4 Cottage Grove bus routes will be extended south to 95th Street/St. Lawrence to better accommodate customers traveling to and from Chicago State University and the surrounding community.
Currently, #3 and #4 buses travel south to 95th Street/King Drive and 95th Street/Cottage Grove, respectively.
There are no changes to the north terminals for either route. Northbound #3 and #4 buses will continue to travel to Fairbanks/Ontario and Columbus/South Water, respectively, before turning to begin southbound service.
Due to the relocation of the south terminal, the following service changes will be made to the #3 and #4 routes beginning Monday:
#3 King Drive
All southbound #3 buses will travel over the regular route along King Drive to 95th Street then will operate via 95th Street, St. Lawrence to the terminal at Chicago State University.
Departing from the terminal, all northbound #3 buses will travel via St. Lawrence, 95th Street to King Drive and then resume the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes
- 95th Street/King Drive: southbound #3 buses will begin serving the new far side stop. Northbound #3 buses will begin serving the near side stop (currently served by #5, #95E, #100 and #111 buses).
- 95th Street/Eberhart: northbound and southbound #3 buses will begin serving the near side stop (currently served by #5, #95E and #111 buses).
- State/95th Street Terminal: the southbound mid-block terminal/stop will be removed from service.
- Chicago State University Terminal: southbound #3 buses will begin serving the new terminal at 95th Street/St. Lawrence.
#4 Cottage Grove
All southbound #4 buses will operate over the regular route along Cottage Grove past 94th Street to 95th Street then will travel via 95th Street, St. Lawrence to the terminal.
Departing from the terminal, all northbound #4 buses will operate via St. Lawrence, 95th Street to Cottage Grove and then resume the regular route.
CTA bus operators will inform customers of the changes in routing and customer alerts have been posted.
Bus Stop Changes
- Cottage Grove/Burnside: the southbound near side stop will be removed from service.
- Burnside Terminal: the southbound terminal/stop will be removed from service.
- Cottage Grove/95th Street: southbound #4 buses will begin serving the near side stop (currently served by #5 and #95E buses). Northbound #4 buses will begin serving the far side stop (currently served by #5 and #95E buses).
- 95th Street/Langley: southbound and northbound #4 buses will begin serving the near side stop (currently served by #5, #95E and #111 buses).
- Chicago State University Terminal: southbound #4 buses will begin serving the new terminal at 95th Street/St. Lawrence.
