Select CTA Bus Routes to Resume Service on Washington Street

May 22, 2008

05/22/2008

The #56 Milwaukee, #20 Madison and #X20 Washington/Madison Express bus routes will resume operating on Washington Street on Tuesday, May 27. Last year these routes in addition to six others were rerouted away from construction activity at Block 37 to improve the reliability of CTA bus service in the area and create a more predictable flow of traffic.

The #20 Madison and #X20 Washington/Madison Express, and the #56 Milwaukee had been rerouted to Monroe. Starting May 27, these buses will resume normal operation on Washington Street to Michigan Avenue and continue northbound on their routes.

While construction continues, there will be periodic evening reroutes for #20, #X20 and #56 buses. During these reroutes buses will travel from Washington, to Clark, then to Monroe and resume the normal route on Michigan Avenue. Dates, times and other details of reroutes will be made available as they are scheduled.

Six bus routes continue to be rerouted off of Washington Street. These routes include the #14 Jeffery Express, #60 Blue Island/26th, #124 Navy Pier, #127 Madison/Roosevelt Circulator (service scheduled to be eliminated on June 15), #129 West Loop/South Loop and the #157 Streeterville.
