Red Line Subway Trains to Reroute to Elevated Tracks Between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown

Service on the Red Line between the Fullerton station and Cermak-Chinatown station will be temporarily rerouted in both directions from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Friday, July 11 until 3 a.m. Monday, July 14.

Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the 95th Street and Cermak-Chinatown stations. Rerouted Red Line trains will stop at the following elevated stations: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Saturday from 12:50 a.m. to 5:10 a.m., Sunday from 12:50 a.m. to 7:10 a.m., and weekdays from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

In addition to running Red Line trains on the elevated tracks, CTA will operate three bus shuttles to help customers make their normal connections.

Bus shuttle service will operate between the Clark/Division station and North/Clybourn station, stopping at the Sedgwick Brown Line station where customers may board Red Line trains.

Bus shuttle service also will operate from the Grand/State and Chicago/State stations to the Chicago/Franklin Brown Line station where customers may board Red Line trains.

Additional bus shuttle service will operate between Jackson/State, Harrison/State, Jackson/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash where customers may board Red Line trains.

Red Line trains will resume normal service through the subway at 3 a.m. Monday.
