No Construction Work in Dearborn Subway this Weekend

July 23, 2009

CTA’s Blue Line will operate over its normal route through the Dearborn Subway this weekend as no construction work is scheduled in the subway.

Due to track maintenance work on the Forest Park branch, a single track will be in operation between the Western and Kedzie stations on the Forest Park branch of the Blue Line on Friday night and throughout the weekend.  However, for customers heading to the Venetian Night festivities Saturday, July 25, longer trains will be available.

During the single track, westbound Blue Line customers at Western will board and exit trains on the eastbound side of the platform.

Construction work in the Dearborn Subway is scheduled to resume next weekend.  Work in the subway has occurred on previous weekend as crews work to replace deteriorated wooden half ties with concrete half ties, and replace running rail and contact (third) rail to remove existing slow zones and help prevent the creation of new slow zones.
